It took some time but I finally read it all.
Well, it was hard to separate the dream from the reality in fact you did a great job in taking me by surprise. In fact even during the dream sequence, all the characters acted so consistently that I could have swear it was the reality.
I definitely loved the dialogue between Laura and Furio. That guy is really cool!
I also liked the scene with the helpless woman execution under Janna's foot. because I think that it was exactly what would happen in a medieval society when a king puts his hands on a new powerful "toy". I'm sure he will gladly "close both his eyes" in exchange of the immense power that comes from two alleys like Laura and Janna.. since technically speaking, the 2 girls own the same power of an empire..
As last note, I saw you mentioning about a new character to introduce. Well, after all the killings the 2 ladies did, I think that you could easily introduce a new character that miraculously survived a rampage of the two giant ladies and lost everything because of them. Making him/her want nothing else but revenge. I think it should be a very smart person hard to identify as an enemy but very dangerous at the same time. ;3

Luckily there were two or three other mentionings of dreaming, so I thought that's what you two meant
and therefore it actually got me when reading to the actual part of Laura waking up. xD

Haha, yeah, better not read the comments first. I'm glad you fell for my little ploy. I didn't know how to continue after writing the first two parts in a haze, but I didn't want to go through all the labour of Nostrian succession because of other, more intriguing ideas. I didn't want to scrap what I wrote either, figured it was too sweet to let go of it. Sometimes I scrap bits like this to use later, often infact, but this time I figured I'd look for a way to keep it in.
Tried the epic music and reaffirmed my finding that I can only ever do one thing at a time. Listening to anything on youtube while writing or reading doesn't work for me. Sometimes I have to hold my breath while I write, so bad is it.

I have to say, I kind of prefer the dream reality to what actually happened. I don't like the idea of the girlsΒ kowtowing to anyone.
But expertly written as always, and I really like how the distinction between the girls' personalities is coming through now. And also how Furio is rationalising everything.

Thanks! That was what I was going for. Furio is incredibly hard to write, which is why I gave him the pipe. When I think of him as pipe-smoking somehow he starts saying all the right things. Lee is even harder though. He's completely cool as long as things are going his way, but what if they don't? The dream was only a test, a playing around with his character. Loosing his cool doesn't suit him at all, but in order to have him stay cool even if the wind is not blowing his way is a real challenge for me. Uncool cowards like me have a hard time writing hard-bitten characters.

I think Furio has for a long time been the strongest non-giantess character. Although I do really miss Rodrina, and even Janna noted that he hasn't really grieved for her.
Lee is also another good one though, definitely one of the best new character. I like the little details, like his drinking and the way he thinks about his sons. Graham is also easy to empathise with.
I do wonder if another strong female character is needed now though, as there's only really Dari and she's pretty unique amongst men and women.

You're right. I'm looking for a new female character, but I'm not settled on one. I simply have no idea about what to make her in the moment. Furio seems in full robot mode. He only obeys and is becoming more and more of a hollow shell.

Perhaps someone that admires or at actively seeks one or other of the girls' company?
The girls themselves have talked about being empowered by their actions, so perhaps there are women that support them - to some degree at least.

There is a parallel to our modern age feminism in them perhaps, as in, they do not care a spit who takes harm for their own aggrandisement, woman, man, poor or rich. If any woman ever sought them out it would have to be a powerful and immoral one such as they are themselves. That might just be the character I was looking for, but it is pretty close to Dari's character, no?

It could be someone who has only heard about the girls second-hand, and becomes disenchanted at the reality of them.
Or... is there some equivalent of Amazons in this fantasy world? They may feel they could make an alliance.
Or perhaps the giants, who never seem to have made any attempt to contact the girls. A strong female leader could try to convince them to help them, rather than the humans. Especially as Janna already seemed happy to have giants help with a rampage, if they had understood her.
But these are just random ideas, I'm not suggesting they are viable.
My favourite female relationship is still Daisy and Nagash though, and at least in terms of the fetish I'd like to see an expanded version of that. Something where at least one side of the relationship is relatively virtuous.

I think I imagined Daisy and Nagash's future relationship being a little more loving and consensual than that! I'm also not sure that Dari counts as virtuous. (Although it was a great scene.)
