Simultaneously one of the most seen and yet most enigmatic races across known space, the Chitaxxi are a Vagabond species of Insectoid bipeds that have taken to the stars as Space Pirates.

The location and name of their homeworld is unknown even to them, having left their planet generations ago there are no living Chitaxxi that have seen it. Many stories get passed from one generation to the next however and most agree that their planet of origin is somewhere they never want to return to, though the reasons for this are unclear.

The Chitaxxi come in almost infinitely different shapes and sizes and many scientists have theorised that "Chitaxxi" may simply be a catch all term for possibly thousands of subspecies that all came from their world. They can be as tall as 16 feet or as small as 1 foot, in many different colours and patterns, some with wings others without and some even have an additional pair of arms that sets them apart from their usually 4 limbed kin.

In known space they gather together to form pirate crews, usually young up and coming pirates will use a large score from a personal job or simply good fortune to purchase their own ship and leave an existing crew to start their own. These giant vessels will be their homes for the rest of their lives, and many of the pirates on these vessels will never see a planets surface. Children born to members of the crew will grow up on board learning from their elders, they will be actively encouraged to cheat, steal and take advantage of their "cute" nature to trick the unwary as they grow to become full fledged pirates themselves.

As with the pirates of the seas of Planet Earth, the crew will be headed by a single Captain who is either simply the strongest and most ruthless, or in some cases, the smartest and most charismatic. They will be assisted by a First Mate who will oversee the majority of the ships day to day workings. Crews vary greatly with some Captains viewing their crew as nothing more than disposable grunts and other crews coming together like an extended family in their own right. Together they will patrol sections of space looking for vulnerable vessels and on rare occasions, worlds to plunder, either by force or by trickery.

Valuables are a strange and often changing thing in deep space with other species having different concepts of money to others that have no concept of it at all. The Chitaxxi have become experts at bartering and finding the most valuable possessions of each of these unique races and their ships can often become filled with great vaults of wealth that they'll use to improve their ship and feed their crew. Captains and high ranking members will often decorate themselves with jewellery and the technology they steal is often used to improve their bodies through cybernetic augmentation, either on limbs that have already been lost or damage, or simply as a desire to "Improve" themselves.

Alongside their homeship they will deploy great numbers of fighters and raiding ships to attack their targets, Chitaxxi pilots are some of the most fearless and adept amongst the stars and those that reach such a status are treated with considerable reverence. Many races only known interaction with this species is their quick and terrifying raids.

Mostly removed from the concerns of other species the Chitaxxi have, for the most part made no attempt to ally with others or the Galactic Coalition, whom they mostly view as a Galactic Police Force. However there have been a small handful of cases of Chitaxxi pirates renouncing their ways and becoming part of the bigger alliance. As for the others? They may either be allies of convenience or sworn enemies.
