Card done for Caro, February 2013.
Having done a lot of big tigers, time for a baby one. As she kept posting picture after picture of cute tiger cubs to my FB wall I got the point - draw me one of these!
So, I picked the one I thought was cutest and did that - lol.
Done using wax pencils utilising my usual pressure application techniques, it consists of 13 colours.
The tiger's eyes were done with white, permanent green olive, black and warm grey 6
The tiger's ears were done with white, ivory, dark flesh, terracotta, burnt ochre, black, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
The tiger's fur was done with white, light blue, bistre, terracotta, burnt ochre, brown ochre (dark), brown ochre (light) black, warm grey 4 and warm grey 5.
The grasses in the front were done with cream and dark sepia.
The unfocused background was done with white, light blue, earth green, grey green, terracotta, black, warm grey 5 and warm grey 6.
Completion time, 59 hours.

Huh, I had never heard of the... NImageFileJPG before. Sounds like a weird camera.
This looks great, but it's just a little bit washed out (very white). Photo editing software even helps with things that aren't photos! This looks fantastic, even including that, though!

The camera is a FujiFilm Finepix.
It's just registering the file on my computer - lol
It's an older picture so yeah, the quality is not that great. After a discussion with a couple of DA artists and one who is a photographer, I need to find the manual for my camera and adjust the settings so I can photograph the artwork more clearly and also to get rid of the barrel distortion.
Thanks

Absolutely!
Detail in a drawing can be incredibly relaxing and frustrating at the same time I think.Β Β

Most of the time I find it really relaxing but there have been those pictures where I just want to scream and then the part of my brain that loves art has a fight with the part of my brain that took on the project in the first place and this happens...Β Β Β Β

Long time since I've been doing one of these - I'm working on a tiger now, but it's the adult looking-at-you-like-you-are-its-next-meal type Excellent work, as always.

Yep, I had a phase of drawing tigers for my wife but then she chose other animals for the subject matter.
Seen that look at the sanctuary several times
Thanks

Can't take credit for the original image as the site didn't say but I think I did it justice in this piece.

This is an old piece so I don't have the newer type from the desk shots but I always took a photo when I'd sealed it into its frame
