It's always a shame to see talent go to waste.
But not just the talented people I hate it when there's a genuinely nice person who might not be the best at drawing etc but they have a way of making everyday brighter just with a little chat and are always around for support and they go unnoticed too :C

i would point out myself as one of the unnoticed ones, but i can see loads of problems with my art that would prevent notification.
but it is frustrating when people who truly have no reason to get noticed are getting DDs and LOADS of page views per month, just because a well known artist featured that person and they do fan art.
im trying to escape the fan art but i don't get any good opinions when i do anything but fan art. not to mention absolutely no comments and only about 5 faves
if i don't get some recognition before i crack, i know exactly what im going to do.
kidnap a popular fan artists and demand he feature me

i haven't been very active on DA lately because i have been trying to improve my status in my local art community, but yes. fan artists own DA and the real artists with opinions instead of being set on being a fan are few in comparison.
my most popular piece is a head shot of toothless from how to train you dragon... over 250 faves... but anything original and even full canvas pieces of mine are somewhere around 5-10 faves ...

Ooo, that's neat, how is that status in your local art community going?
Aaa, that, that greatly sucks *nods*
Although it may not help directly, would you like me to feature you somewhere? I'm due for a friend anyhow, and having another taker on board wouldn't be too much trouble. I'm still contemplating whether or not it would be in a journal or a news article but depending on how much I focus later on today [since it's AM now here] I can try to piece it together, or if not plan it out.

well... there isn't really a way for the artists in the community to get together except to volunteer to help this one very well known artist who makes statues; but even he is out of work atm. my status is pretty much an unknown artist. everyone around here with digital art experience is doing things like working in t-shirt shops XD
i don't mind adding you as a friend, but i would prefer you don't feature me for my own various reasons.
...lol, House fan?

Ohhhh, that's too bad DX
Maybe there's a way you can get something in the paper
for a particular project or something?
Oh, okay!
Is it still safe for me to explore your gallery?
I'm totally surprised you don't have any comments on some
of those photos of yours
Ahaha, yep XD

lol, i have tried some things like that. most the people i have worked for have procrastinated so much that nothing ever happened... and i would do a large project for recognition, but if i did, i would have to do something big... literally, large. something about where i live. the people are so ... i guess a good way to explain it is "simple". quite often quantity beats quality. which explains why the guy who makes statues is so famous around here. his statues are usually about 8' tall. although his statues are very good as well.
but anyways, it is kind of hard to figure out what sort of project i would do of that size with digital art as my main skill... and when it comes to traditional acrylic painting, i can't seem to come up with anything i would really like to paint. as you can see, most my art has no backgrounds and only one character... not exactly very appealing. i just have a hard time coming up with those things before i draw it. that and my backgrounds are terrible
i have thought of maybe getting a mentor because i have been fairly stuck in my current skill set, but it seems there isn't any mentoring in this area for art. i was hoping even the influence of a traditional paint artist would advance my skills, especially with backgrounds... still looking.
lol, my gallery is there to be viewed.

i don't agree with this stamp.
i'm happy, that there are unknown good artists. that's the thing that keeps art world go! to tell the truth i like unnoticed artist more than well known. and i'm happy that just a few people know them. it's the most beautiful process, when somebody founds you and accepts your talent. these known artist becomes boring of their popularity (well maybe it's just for me), but seeing their art in any groups - starts to annoy me (for example, phobs or moni198 don't know their exact nick names)

Hm. Those are some interesting points that you brought up. But sometimes those artists DO need some "attention", like comments and feedback on how well their art is, or how they can improve. Without being noticed, there is some level of difficulty of getting that feedback.
Plus, some unnoticed artists might feel inferior to those "popular" artists and wonder why they aren't as popular as those with similar skill levels. That small boost of popularity would help solve that.
Im not saying that (lots of) popularity is a good thing, but a small bit can come in handy and really encourage those that are working really hard. But thats just my two cents

i agree with you, because i don't know, how artist are feeling.
but talking about myself, i often ran away after fave. because good art don't need any comments if it's not symbolic art, where artist want's to know what you see, how you understand his/her picture. but if it's portrait or something very "clear" and if it's perfectly drawn, it doesn't need any comments at all.. most people do the same thing as i do.
and... to get comment just with one word "perfect", two/three words "i love it" "you are awesome" will not make artist happy, because he'll need critics which is very hard to find on da, because a lot of people are not so good at art techniques as other thinks.
of course you can say first one compliment, second, but when you are saying it always "love your art" it just annoys too. well then it's better to be silent. that's what i think and i don't think that good artist needs that type of comments at all. i agree that comments are needed when good unknown artist is feeling unwanted and stars to drop his doing. when i feel the urgent to cheer him/her up because i don't want him to stop.
and i do appreciate your opinion as well
