{-Personal log, LCpl Judas T. Morrison. Date Log Created: November 7th 2548}

I'm finally back to writing logs for a bit so I'll start at the top. The journey took us a while to get back to Reach and I think they even had most of the crew go into cryo. For those of us in need of medical care though, we weren't put on ice for about a week until our superficial injuries had healed and the bandages could be removed. I haven't been put on ice much since getting out of Basic but it still sucks. They have to strip you down and inject you with some chemical stuff to keep your insides from crystallizing. Even after you wake up you always have chills and "Cryo Itch", as everyone so aptly calls it, for a day or so after. Until it was our turn to get in the freezer Farrah and I were confined to the infirmary, thankfully with no more interruptions from Mikaelis' deck officers. We did have a doc check up on us twice a day though but other than that and getting small food rations we didn't have much to do. Most of the time was spent in silence but it wasn't until the fourth day that Farrah and I got to talking again. I'll save that for later though. There's more important things to discuss in this entry.

Once we made it to the outer edge of the Eridanus system we were finally brought out of stasis to prep for heading down to Reach. It was all formal too; we had to get all tidied up in our dress blacks for this field trip to Reach's ONI HQ-Olympic Tower. The docs slathered us in medigel and rewrapped our wounds before we got dressed up and shipped planetside. In truth I didn't know what to expect down there but I was somewhat conflicted. The nerd part of me was excited to go to Reach and see such a formal military structure but the realist in me knew that this wasn't a field trip. Alongside Farrah and myself was Mikaelis in a black dress uniform fancier than ours and the other ODST, Ivaanjav, in his dress blacks. More surprisingly, Captain Vassão was attending with us. I guess they deemed it necessary that our ship captain be present and aware of the events that transpired there. I wasn't sure if that would turn out to be a good or bad thing.

Somehow I expected a red carpet rolled out considering how formal everything was but that wasn't the case at all. Aside from taking a Pelican straight to a private landing pad on Olympic Tower, everything was mostly hush-hush. The weather was rainy and we were quickly ushered inside the massive skyscraper from high above ground level. It was kind of scary to be honest but I found that ironic considering I've dropped from orbit at terminal velocity countless times. Another slight concern was the fact we were being escorted by armed security but Mikaelis and Vassão seemed nonplussed about it. Maybe this was regular for them but this was the first time I'd ever had anything this "official" happen to me since graduating from my ODST training. The fact armed guards were deemed necessary to escort us had me a smidge worried. Was it for our "safety"? Or was it for a more sinister reason? I tried not to let my thoughts run too wild and instead focused on the beautiful architecture of the building. Somehow I didn't even find comfort in that. It felt like if my eyes wandered too much I might see something I wasn't supposed to and get a nice smack upside the head from security.

After a short, violence-free walk through the lavishly decorated tower, we were brought to a conference room that was considerably smaller than I expected. Don't get me wrong; it was decently sized but somehow I expected a courtroom or something more intimidating. Inside there were already a few official-looking people gathered and waiting for us, all grizzled from countless battles no doubt. The second we entered the room they all went silent and took their seats, beckoning for us to do the same. With all these high ranking officers in front of me and security guarding the door behind me, I quickly regained the feeling of being intimidated. Needless to say, everyone there had earned their reputation and I could see why. Even Mikaelis wasn't as nonchalant with them as he seemed around us. If they could instill that sense of rigidity in an ONI spook like him, they meant serious business.

Speaking of business, the entire entourage of officers began their explanations of what we had seen down there and then what we had actually seen; aka they didn't exactly want us talking about it. Captain Vassão was made aware of the extraneous circumstances Alpha-Six came under during our time in the facility and our helmet cams recalled the entire duration of the mission. He acted kind of indifferent towards Farrah and I thankfully; he had a reputation for being hard sometimes. I guess that's what got him results during the war with the Insurrection. This was a long meeting for sure, made doubly so by having to relive the horrific moments a second time. I think I might have even seen a pitying glance from Mikaelis but I couldn't be sure. I didn't dare let my eyes wander too much with all the officers watching me intently. Once the reel had finished, a lot more "official" type talk was had from the officer board.

After the explanations were through, the board wanted to hear our testimonies. We didn't have much to say that differed from what was recorded but we were "encouraged" to share our state of mind. I was a bit worried that being honest would lead us to being discharged, reassigned to some backwater post where no one visited, or...worse. On the flip side, we all knew the penalty for perjury. Both Farrah and I described how the events had scarred us but we reassured the board that we wanted to continue doing our duties. Their expressions didn't change much until Mikaelis surprisingly chimed in. He vouched for our skills in combat, leadership, ingenuity, and most of all-following orders. With a few more fluffed-up descriptions of our character, it seemed he was able to persuade the board from whatever grim fate had originally awaited Farrah and I. I wasn't sure if that would come back to bite us in the ass sooner... or later.
