Description The Things My Daddy Taught Me

That time of year is here again
To mark your stay on earth
Family and friends will gather round
To celebrate your birth

50 years have gone so fast
And 50 more to go
I can’t help but remember now
The things you aught to know

A bright young child you brought to life
And watched it through the years
You smothered her with happy hugs
And wiped away her tears

You taught her how to build things
With brightly colored blocks
And knew just how to calm her down
In the big wooden chair that rocks

You taught her how to ride a bike
Regardless if she was scared
You knew how strong this little girl was
And she knew how much you cared

I’m positive you’ve noticed
All the traits she has from you
Her skill with a pencil, her box of tools
Her list of 20 projects to do

She’s growing up and living life
Just like you knew she could
She’s working hard to make you proud
Just like you knew she would

So many blessings you’ve bestowed
No one could possibly keep track
But know that it’s your little girl’s dream
To offer it right back

You’ve been the greatest Father,
Awesome teacher and best dad
In my 26 years of living
The ones with you are the best I’ve ever had.

Happy Birthday Papa!
