Description She sat in a dense little corner, curled up on the seat of the Light Train, head resting where the window should be. Instead, a little panel of colour, swirling and splitting like a kaleidoscope, was glowing in the wall.  As she waited tensely, trying to take her mind off how fast she was travelling, a thought struck her:
Why couldn't she remember?
Frustration bubbled inside of her.  What had happened?  And, more worrying to her, what was blocking her memories?  She looked herself over, eyes skimming over her body.  She felt normal – ordinary, even.  Obviously not.
The train suddenly plummeted to the ground, making her insides lurch.  She clutched the papers inside of her pockets tightly, until the train's descent slowed to stop on solid ground.  To her astonishment, the little panel of light on the side of the train expanded until it was the entire length of the wall beside her, before suddenly vanishing.  She was thrown out into the night, on all fours in what seemed to be a deserted alleyway.
She climbed to her feet and peered around the grey building that made up one wall.  Outside she saw lights and people laughing while the moon hung high in the sky.  Reality whiplash.
Abruptly, a hand closed around her mouth, and yanked her back into the shadows of the alley.  She struggled in the arms of her captor, managing to twist to face him.
A man, looking in his mid-twenties, released her to hold her shoulders.
"Zephyr," she whispered.
The man nodded.  "Come, they're expecting you."
She was suddenly shoved into the gloom, to appear in a room full of fire.  A little man with half-moon glasses perching on his abnormally large nose smiled when he saw her, baring blackened teeth.
"Welcome to the First Trial."
