Powers
- Kitsune Soul. A Lost Caster-Type Magic; it's believed to be the first attempt at Take-Over magic. The soul of a Nine-tailed Fox fused with the mage’s soul, giving the mage access to the beast's powers without having to take on its form. The only known users of this magic are those of the Silveira’s bloodline; with Rani begin the last. A side effect of this magic is that the Kitsune soul is hereditary; with it being passed down from parent to child. As the magic moves down the lineage, it grows in strength. Rani’s Kitsune Soul, according to her mother, is 250 years old. Since joining Fairy Tail Rani researched her magic but found nothing. When she met Hibiki Lates during the Nirvana she requested information but at that time he couldn't find anything in Archive. During the 7 years of Tenrou disappearance, Hibiki didn't stop searching for information on Rani's Kitsune Soul. Upon Tenrou return Hibiki tells Rani that he believes her magic is closer to 1,000 years old.
- Fox Fire Magic. A type of fire magic that only those with a Kitsune Soul can use. This fire feels cool to the touch yet can cook food and produce a warm campfire like a normal fire. Similar to other fire magic users, the castor can increase the temperature of their Fox Fire spells. Unlike normal fire magic; Fox Fire can not can not melt ice. Being the only one able to consume Rani's Fox Fire; Natsu has described it like eating mint ice cream. And has gotten brain freeze from eating too much at once.
- Kitsune Howl. Similar to Dragon Slayer's Roar. Rani inhales, gathering fire in her mouth, then releases the fire towards her opponent. Before the attack, fire can often be seen at the corner of her mouth.
- Wisp. This spell creates a fire wisp that Rani can give to anyone allowing her to communicate with them. Only water and ice magic can dispel the wisp; wind magic seems to have no effect on it. The wisp will listen to the person Rani gave it too. And if order it can lead the person back to Rani.
- Leading Lights. Rani leaves a trail of fox fire to her location.
- Healing Wisp. An advanced spell of Fox Fire magic; that Rani learned from her mother's journal. The caster uses fire to heal wounds on themselves or others.
- Mirage Magic. A form of Illusions Magic that uses Fox Fire to create illusions that deceive even respectable Mages of the Ten Wizard Saints and Magic Council Captains. The user can also determine who sees and hears the illusions and who doesn't. When a target becomes aware of an illusion cast on them, the effects of the illusion will begin to wear off and disappear. Water and ice will also dispel the illusions.
- Retractable Nails. Rani can grow and sharpen her nails, allowing her to use them in melee combat.
- Fox Tail/Ear Manifestation. Due to Kitsune Soul being hereditary magic. Rani was born with fox ears and a tail.
- Multiple Tails. Like kitsunes; Rani has nine tails. However, in everyday life and not in combat, Rani will only have one tail. Rani can control how many tails are released, as more are released her magic power will rise. When the ninth tail is released, the user's hair will go white and their attacks will have a stronger effect.
- Kitsune Soul: Inari. Also known as Kitsune Soul: Messenger. This form of Kitsune Soul was unlocked by Rani when she unlocked her second origin during the three months' of training for the Grand Magic Games. Like other Take Over magic, this form not only changes Rani's appearance; but also grants a high boost in her abilities. In this form Rani's hair pink.
- Immense Speed. In this form Rani's speed is increased drastically. For this reason, Rani chose to debut this form in her fight against Bacchus Groh.
- Immense Reflexes. Rani's reaction time becomes extremely sharp. This allows her to dodge and even re-direct many of Bacchus' punches.
- Kitsune Soul: Huxian. Also known as Kitsune Soul: God. This is the last known form of Kitsune Soul. Rani ended up unlocking it during Fairy Tail's disbandment. This form changes Rani's hair changes to a pure white. Along with her ears and tail. Red marking will appear on her face and along her body with all nine of her tails being out. Her arms from the elbow down and feet from the knee down with have a fox-like paw style. Rani's hair becomes white, red markings appear on her body, and all nine tails are out. From Strength to Magic Power, all her abilities are granted a major boost.
- Transformation Magic. Being the first magic her mother taught her. Rani mastered it by age nine. She can use advanced transformation magic with ease, often being requested for undercover jobs.
- Sleep Magic. Magic that gives the caster the ability to induce sleep on single or multiple targets.
- Knock Out Fire. Mixing sleep magic and fox fire, anyone that consumes the flame asleep. This spell has only been used on Natsu.
- Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant. Rani is an extremely experienced fighter without the uses of her magic.
- Ourákinetic Combat. Not only skilled in hand-to-hand combat; Rani is also skilled in using tail(s) in combat.
- Keen Intellect. Rani is shown to be able to think on her feet and has great knowledge of the magic world. Most likely due to her research into Kitsune Soul. It is shown in her matching against Bacchus Groh; during the Grand Magic Games, just how clever Rani is. Knowing she can't beat Bacchus in strength she forces him to use all of his magic power.
- Enhanced Strength. Equal in strength compared to Erza and Mirajane. When using her claws has seen being able to cut threw steel. It's even rumored that Rani once cut through Erza's Adamantine Armor with her claws. Rani has refuted this.
- Immense Endurance. Rani has not only physical endurance.
- Immense Durability. Rani can take a lot of physical attacks and keep fighting.
- Immense Reflexes. Rani posses a high degree of agility and reaction time.
- Immense Magic Power. Even without having all nine tails out; many have said that Rani is on the same level as the Ten Wizard Saints. Though she herself doesn’t believe that.
Weaknesses
- Feral State. This can happen when Rani is feeling heightened anger and all nine of Rani’s tails are released. Going in a berserk state, Rani can take and inflict damage that she couldn’t in her normal state. However, her mind becomes clouded with rage, which leads to her attacking friends and allies. In this state, she is able to take on Makarov Dreyar for a short time before being knocked out.

History
In the year X765 Cyra Silveira, one of Fairy Tail's strongest S-Class wizards, at the time, began her search for fellow Fairy Tail member and friend Gianna Ravis; who had been missing for two months. Following Gianna’s path lead Cyra straight to Drystan Kearney; a Fiore aristocrat. This meeting would change Cyra’s life as Drystan used Charm, exactly like he done with Gianna weeks earlier. Under the Charm spell Cyra signed a magic contract forcing her into being his concubine. The contract stated that that they had to at least produce one child together and bounded Cyra to the Kearney's estate until the child came of age. Along with this Drystan had Cyra write a letter to the guild stating she and Gianna had no plans of returning. The women were forced to hide their guild marks as showing them resulted in punishments.
In the spring of X766 Odessa Kearney was born. Odessa became the fourth daughter but in total was the ninth child born into the Kearney family. Her childhood, similar to most of her siblings, was far from normal. With a cruel unloving father, Odessa sought comfort from her mother. Unlike some of the other mothers on the estate Crya loved her daughter dearly and didn't see her as a pawn to gain power. Crya did her best to protect the young girl from not only Drystan's abuse but his other concubines. Through everything Crya and Gianna's friendship stayed strong. The two women relied on each other. Helped each other in raising and protecting their children. Despite the household they were in.
The Battle of the Heirs; loomed over every Kearney child head like a storm cloud. It served as a constant reminder that they must better themselves and their magic lest they meet their death in the future. The mothers' of the other Kearney children were just as ruthless. And it soon became known that Crya was Odessa's magic teacher. This placed a target on her back and in the early fall of X773 Crya was killed. Those behind the murder hoped that this would heavily impede Odessa's magic skill. Also, due to her mother's passing. Odessa became a greatly target of bullying and abuse from those in the estate; even the maids looked down on Odessa. Gianna tried to protect Odessa as much as she could. However, with two children of her own she couldn't be everywhere at once. Odessa kept up her magic studies in secret with only with Lana and Flossie; Gianna's daughters, knowing and Lana helping where she could. Odessa ended up skilled in Transformation Magic. With this she began sneaking around the mansion searching for a way out and gathering small valuables no one would miss. She would also use her magic to sneak into the kitchen to get food when the maids refused to serve her. In the early spring of X774 using her Transformation Magic and taking what little jewel she had; Odessa finally fled from the estate.
Once free from the Kearney estate, Odessa began going by Rani and used her mother's surname Silveira. Rani Silveira went to Fairy Tail as her mother and Gianna always spoke about the guild. Claiming that the guild would treat her like family. When she finally met Master Makarov after her of travels. He questioned her about her surname and appearance; wondering if she was related in some way to Cyra Silveira. Rani confirmed that she was Cyra's daughter and that Cyra had passed away. She never brought up the fact she was a Kearney or her mother was imprisoned by Drystan years ago. As Rani was still deeply scared of her father and his wrath. Rani joined Fairy Tail months before Gray Fullbuster.
Like her mother spoke of, Fairy Tail became the family Rani always dreamed of. She trained herself and magic freely without having to look over her shoulder. She forged friendships with the younger members. Always felt welcomed when returning from a job. And had guidance in place of judgment. She was present when Gray and later Erza joined the guild. Rani wasn't fond of Gray due to his ego but hung out with him because of her friendship with Cana. When Erza joined Rani was unsure how to approach the sword woman. Rani at this time was learning to bake. She she used her baked goods instead of words; or like Gray is fist. Over time Erza would become Rani's taste tester and the girls bonded over the baked goods and being annoyed with Gray. They would also take on jobs together. This team became known as the Scarlet Fox.
Similar to how Erza breaks up fights between Gray and Natsu; Rani did the same with Erza and Mirajane as she wasn't scared of them. In X781 Rani and Mirajane would start dating. The relationship only lasted a few months. It ended publicly in the guild hall with Mirajane saying things that hurt Rani deeply. After that Rani couldn't be look at Mirajane. During the initial break up, Erza was out on a job. So Gray, who was present in the guild hall, tried to comfort Rani. From this, Gray and Rani began talking and hanging out more. Even started doing jobs with each other and became close. It wasn't until Lisanna's death and the shift in Mirajane's personality that Rani received an apology. In X783 Rani was selected for the S-Class Trials and passed becoming Fairy Tail's newest S-Class Wizard.

- The name Rani comes of a fairy in a book Crya loved as a girl. She was originally going to have this name until Drystan gave her the name Odessa.
- Rani is considered “lucky” since Drystan gave her a family name.
- Her hair grows fast and she often complains about it.
- Rani's fox ear are similar to red fox's ears. Where are her mother Crya's ears were similar to Fennec fox ears.
- Like foxes Rani can regulate her body temperature.
