History;Umi started off a worthless detective couldn't solve the simplest cases that was until she met Yoko her Shinigami, she decided to use her death note and bring her victims to their knees she soon became famous almost by over night it wasn't long until she met the greatest detective ever, L. He though she could be useful on the Kira case. She proved to be right she found out how Kira truly was almost over night.

However once Umi found out Light's reason to use his death note she decided to help him any way possible but she also kept up her act as a detective and brought any good information to Light it wasn't until Umi met L face to face and she began t fall for him bit by bit just by noticing her intelligence and by being a gentlemen to her it wasn't long until he took her first kiss and the two began dating secretly for security reasons ofcourse but after one passionate night Umi has had enough of the lies and secrets.

She runs to Light and tells him she wants no part in this and is gonna destroy his Death Note and take Light in for custody Light refuses and begins to lose his mind he sends his Shinigami to destroy Umi but Yoko isn't going to allow anyone to hurt Umi not even her crush. The two do battle in the end both or horrible damaged Umi grabs Yoko, her death note and runs to L covered in blood. She explains the whole situation and is given a hug for comfort in returns she allows L to touch her death book and see Yoko they both treat her wounds and leave her to rest comfortably. After some time the gang run in arrest Light and take him away. Umi burns his death note sending his Shinigami back. Light manages to escape but was shot by L which shows he didn't go very far.Years later Umi and L are shown at his funeral along with that, Umi is seen holding a small child a few more years later L and Umi's child is seen leaving flowers on Light's grave.
