Description Obviously, I do this just to look good. My housemate thought I had a toothache. But this is really my medieval headdress' underwear, so to speak.

There is a lot of speculation swimming around out there about precisely how barbettes are made - from shaped tubes (tie-less coifs?) to shaped strips to crescent moons... I'm starting with the simplest for my 13th century headdress, the shaped strip. I figure I'll just make them all until I settle on the one I really prefer, and which matches whatever research I have advanced upon by then. After all, who doesn't need a bunch of barbettes?

Well, okay, mostly me. And the little strips like the horizontal one. I need tons of those! When I go wimple, I REALLY need those.

I still need to order the buckram for the filet ("ring hat thing like a pillbox hat" that goes on this, for you uninitiated into the ways of medieval garb of the 13th century), which I am also on the fence about. There are a bunch of styles, and basically none on others around the internet that I have been remotely satisfied with the look of.

Tips more than welcome, esp. if you site sources.
