==============================
This is the long awaited final version of the popular Purity scene. The original scene [link] had oodles of great comments, thank you all for those
Two of your main gripes about it were...
- No cloud reflections
- The snow shouldn't be so high on the vertical slopes
I also had a serious banding problem and font issues with that too which is why it never made it to a print version.
Well, here is the new version
- Cloud reflections courtesy of the new release of Terragen
- A whole new set of textures for the rocks
- New textures for the snow layers - bluer, new distribution and crispier looking
- Banding problems. I must give a MASSIVE hug to *eilidh for her determination to help me and her wonderful efforts at removing this banding, thank you Eleni
- Font issues - Another big thank you goes out to ~novispoon for his excellent advice on how to select a font.
EDIT - Yup a 1280x960 is now available too

The links don't appear to work anymore.. I was looking forward to downloading the 1920x1200 version
In any event, great job!

I can see myself sitting in this still, cold scene, the sun is just peeking over the horizon and it begins to warm by bones, seemingly from within. One of the most unique terragens I have seen, it is so very close to reality. I have seen pictures of Hokkaido when the sky and water were like this (minus the land). I have not concept of the time it might have taken to create this render, especially seeing the detail of your editting. Quite a work, indeed.

Oh my god. You need to stop making these things so good. I know a lot of non-terrageners say this, but for something this good, it has to come from one of your own "This looks more like a photo than 3D"
You should stop before you end up becoming an actual GOD of Terragen
...The only bit I might pick on is that the snow is a little too grainy in areas

It's so amazing what can be done with a program (at least that's what I think 'cause I have no idea what terragen is )! I love the dark blue, the clarity and peace in this. The perspective is great!

I took a look at this deviation a long time ago when it was still in the working stages. It was one of my favorite deviations back then, and now that you've cleaned it up, it looks even better! I'm even considering purchasing a print!
Stotty, you are the MAN and I wish that I could even come CLOSE to producing the kinds of works that you do. Terragen is art -- easy to do, but incredibly tough to master. You have shown that, with LOTS of work, you can create gorgeous showpieces.
Thanks for being an inspiration. I haven't done any terragen lately, but you've inspired me to start up again.
Please take a look at the 3 deviations on my page (you've already commented on one of them) and see what I have to do to improve my works.
Thanks!
Justin

lovely, simply lovely.
Especially the mirror effect - the reflection on water so calm you must wonder which side you're on. /waxing poetic

mmmmm I duno what I can say bad about this piece, VERY good work. Maybe see if ther is a way to make the snow look more wind swept? and the completely calm water looks a little fake but then again i think tht was kind of the idea for the piece. very well done.

I've been trying to get a terrain like this for some time now. How did you ever manage to get such an amazing terrain? And even though I've seen this a couple of times already, you just don't grow tired of it. Still has me awed time and time again. It's a great render and the border really adds a lot to this as well

Great job sir, I love this one. For some reason, I prefer your other one. I think it was softer colors, or something. Good as always, though.

Wow, looks good, different from the last one, somehow. . .not too 'visably' different, but really takes on a different feeling.
I still get banding in the water reflection of the sky. . .but my computer has a tendency to do that to a lot of pictures. . .so hopefully it is just me
It looks (from what I can remember) like you've chosen a different color for the reflection in the water. . .almost a more muddy looking reflection. . .and you might want to reconsider that if you are putting this up for a print. It's not the clearest thing. . .and due to the title, I imagine that's what you're going for. . .maybe a bluer color in the water or something
Yolu might not like it, but the snow texture is too bumpy. . .snow rarely is that bumpy, and the piece loses a lot of realism there
I would advise a rerender with some of the things I pointed out looked at, but maybe it's just personal oppinion (I think it could make it look better)
The last thing, which you really can pass over if you want, but I think it could look a lot better if you pulled away from the land further, and it looked a tiny bit more in the distance. . .now, as of now I don't know what it would look like, and that might be the wrong suggestion, either that or zooming out a bit, and I'm not really even sure why I suggest this. . .but I have a feeling about it
Anyway, it looks good, I like this cloud reflection thing, although I think veteran tgers might have to spend some time getting used to it. .I think it's easier now to mess up water due to that one element.
I wishh I could play with it though
Bye

Ooo, this is still wonderful. In fact, it's what I've used for my wallpaper for the most part since the last one came out. It just so different than a lot of other ones. And I see the clouds are reflected now too Great work Stot. A print would be sweet, but I don't think that'll happen right away
Anyways, This is one of my favorites from you
Later. /
