Description
Ah, so is this what Prismacolors are capable of. . . .I'll have to use them again someday.
This is a colored version of *suzidragonlady 's dragon sketch, Strator. Suzi's original sketch for comparison: here
I felt blue would be a nice shade to use, since it and green are my favorite hues. But I wanted it to be a sort of nightish blue, with bright gold accents or something. With, of course, extra details added. I'm that kind of art freak.
The original Strator looked sort of unhappy, a scowling sort of way. But I don't do scowling dragons very well, so I made him smile for the camera.
Printed out & redrawn on sketchbook paper, all traditional, no digital work except for basic cleaning-up (apparently, Prismas are messy) and the tinted BG.
Colored pencils over Micron inking (though you probably can't even spot the latter).
Nine hours in total.
8.5x11", full-views at 75px/in, though exactly how that resolution compares to Suzi's original I do not know.
WIP scans available in my Scraps section, here .

Doncha' just LOVE Prismas? Mine are teensy. They barely fit in the box.

It's done! 8D
I really love your take on this and all the little details you've added like the spike on the tail. The colors you used are quite awesome too. The gold accents make him look very regal. He looks like a very important dragon, like the alpha male or leader or something

Nice rich color! Prismas are awesome for their weight and richness. You handled them wonderfully. I can't make even my prismas sit that strongly on the page.
