Fifteen year-old Aan was found in a palm oil plantation with 104 pellets from an airgun in her body. She was shot in the head 37 times and, miraculously, survived the operation. She's blind in one eye, and it's feared that she could loose the sight in her other eye.

You can help orangutans by reading the ingredients labels on your food and buying second-hand furniture to slow the destruction of their habitat. All those photocopies from school with only a few lines of print on them are great for practice sketches, too.
Orangutans are an endangered species and plantations are eating up their homes and shooting them as pests; some plantation owners offer rewards for every orangutan killed, and hunters sell the orphaned babies as pets. They're also killed for their meat.
I saw this on Yahoo News yesterday and decided I had to spread awareness. Everyone can make a difference; even a few words could make people rethink how they treat their own animals.
