Lousy Short Story
The barren wasteland of snow and wind was truly a beautiful sight. An exploring party was sent out to track the direction in which the caribou herds are moving to inform the villagers. Padme, Thranduil, Demigod, Riversong, and Piroska were the trusted Tokota's to head out with specially chosen riders, as well. The group set out early in the morning. They were set in a row of three, two, and Amarok was behind them to keep the task in line.
Thranduil and Demigod were with their noses to the ground, sniffing busily to pick up a scent trail of the caribou. The others kept their eyes peeled, peering deeply into the distance. Not too many miles into travelling, Piroska got a sighting. Immediately after viewing the black figures in the distance, Padme signalled to the group that she has scented a caribou herd. She started heading in the direction of the silhouettes in the distance.
The closer they got, the more they knew that had to keep low and quiet. The riders, at this point, had hopped off the Tokota's and allowed the Tokota's to do their thing. The plan was to keep the herds within their boundaries, and not too far from the villages. They found themselves maneuvering their way to the sides of the the herd, keeping low and blending with the terrian.
Riversong would signal the scare, the group moving into the group and herding them towards the eastern mountains. The land in that area had largely accessible food and warer sources for the herd to enjoy which would in turn keep them there and available for hunts. At this very moment, the group had no intention of harming the group at all, but instead to relocate it. That was the whole reason they were asked to set out and do.
They closed in on the group, running with the herd and nipping at the occasional caribou to keep them running towards the degsinated area. The run would last up to two hours which would include keeping up a decent pace and ensuring all the caribou stay with the herd. They did not want to scare the caribou off in another direction at all. The riders would be very behind but they would be walking their way towards the area in which the caribou would be herded. The Tokota's, once successfully aiding the herd to the mountainside, would quickly make their way back to the riders once the task is finished.
Padme had noticied a single caribou running off the side and she would quickly correct the caribou by running a distance to the side then moving in to scare the caribou back towards the herd. The caribou did not protest and would merge back with her herd. Not too long after, the herd began to tire and slow down. The Tokota's did not want to fully ware them out, so they would slow down as well and each of them would form a hexagon shape around the herd, trotting outside the herd. Amarok remained within the herd, keeping the herd at bay. Not too long after, they caught the sight of the area in which they wanted to take the herd. It was a large area near their village which was mostly forest, but in the center was a large meadow, which was currently snowy and icey but with spring right around the corner, would grow all kinds of beautiful flowers and grass which would easily attract the caribou. Within the forest were two medium lakes and one large lake in the center meadow which would supply the caribou happily.
