Chelsea leaned down to pick a Moondrop flower. The forest was so peaceful and gentle in the Spring. This was always her favorite time of year, but now she had a reason to love it even more; the day she met Vaughn. He gave Chelsea this adrenaline rush every time she catch his glance. He was so different from all the other guys she had met. At first Vaughn was pretty anti-social, kept to himself and rude, but if you get to know him, he'll warm up to you.

"If only Vaughn was here," Chelsea whispered to herself.

From the corner of her eyes Chelsea saw something approaching. Spinning around she came face to face with a tan horse with a jet black mane. He seemed to be chewing on a cowboy hat.

It finally struck Chelsea the horse stole Vaughn's hat.

"What are you doing you silly horse," the girl teased.

"Nom, nom, nom," the tan horse said continuing to nibble on the tip of the hat.

"Get back here you annoying horse!" screamed Vaughn sprinting towards them.

The horse neighed cheerfully at the sound of Vaughn's voice. Tossing his mane, the horse galloped deeper into the trees. Vaughn eventually caught up to Chelsea panting to catch his breath.

"Vaughn...breath. Now, what happened?" asked Chelsea.

"Chelsea I'm glad you're here!" Vaughn exclaimed shaking Chelsea's shoulders.

"Vaughn," Chelsea stifled a giggle and answered "I'm thrilled to see you too but your horse is getting away."

"That's what I wanted to ask you," the cowboy replied beginning to blush. "Would you mind helping me?"

Without his hat Vaughn hung his head allowing his silver hair to hide his eyes. Ever since Chelsea asked him to smile, Vaughn has been more cheerful and bighearted. She loved the way his lavender eyes glistened when he attempted to smile.

"Well come on!" Chelsea said sprinting with Vaughn being pulled along.

They spent the next two hours running up and down through the forest.

"Vaughn?" Chelsea panted, "Can we take a break?"

"Of all the dirty tricks this horse has pulled, this is the worst!" Vaughn complained.

Chelsea giggled at Vaughn's outburst. He always seemed to have this special connection with animals but apparently he finally met his match.

Laying down Chelsea watched the forest trees sway in the light breeze. Suddenly a shadow appeared behind on of the thick trunked trees. The shadow was none other then Vaughn's horse. The cowboy hat still remained wedged between the horse's grey lips.

"Vaughn?" Chelsea giggled keeping her eyes on the horse.

Ignoring her call the cowboy continued to ramble on about the 'pathetic excuse of a horse'.

"Vaughn?" Chelsea repeated waving her arms in hope to get the cowboy's attention.

Still he didn't stir or give Chelsea his attention.

Finally giving up on Vaughn she sat up and crept toward the horse, "I don't need him! I can get his hat myself."

The tan horse's ears perked up at the sound of Chelsea's soft footsteps. He stared at her puzzled as she pursued. Like a lion stalking its prey; she stayed low. Plans clouded her head on how she would snatch the hat. An adrenaline rush kicked in as she came within feet of the horse. She slowly inched her hands for the black cowboy hat. The horse picked up on her plan and spun around ready to escape.

In panic Chelsea violently jumped onto the horses back, hugging its mane for dear life. Eyes wide the horse bucked and kicked trying to throw the naive girl off. Squinting her eyes open Chelsea released her right hand and reached for the hat once more, but was thrown to the side, sending her hand back to the horse's course mane.

Vaughn turned his head toward the disturbing sound to find Chelsea screaming on the wild horse.

In frustration Vaughn yelled, "Why must I always save you! You're such a distraction!"

Dashing over to the bucking stallion, Vaughn caught sight of Chelsea releasing her grip to take the hat. Just at that moment the horse jumped sending the girl flying clutching the hat to her chest.

"I'm coming Chelsea!" howled Vaughn stretched his arms out to catch her fall.

Just in time she clumsy plopped into his embrace. The horse ceased snorting and nibbled on the grass below like nothing happened.

Chelsea could feel her heart pounding as she locked eyes with her rescuer. Unable to speak she sat there in silence.

"Are you alright?" Vaughn asked speaking out.

"Yea, I'm alright," Chelsea choked out, "Thanks to you."

Vaughn felt his cheeks heat up and burred his face in his silver hair.

"You know, you should take off your hat more. You're really cute when I can see you smile," Chelsea whispered opening his curtain of hair to see the expression across his face.

With this Vaughn's whole face began to bright red. Completely embarrassed he set down Chelsea then swiped for his hat but failed.

"Give me back my hat Chelsea!" Vaughn exclaimed his blood boiling.

Chelsea giggled at the foolish cowboy, "Nah, I think I'm gonna wear it."

"Ugh! You're so annoying!" Vaughn said stomping his foot.

Chelsea carefully placed the black cowboy hat on her head then strolled out of the forest laughing, hands behind her back whistling.

Before pursuing her Vaughn let out a hence of a smile, "You're such a distraction, but I would be lying if I said I didn't like it."
