From the beginning of the Anomalous relaunch (for those keeping count, that was February 2016), the Formaris Event has been plotted.  Our staff and our members alike have invested themselves in this event and the massive amount of artwork and literature submitted to the group for this event have brought the color and life to the Formaris plot line in a way that I could never have imagined.  Seven seasons - seven real-time months - have passed since the start of the Formaris event. Countless more were spent planning/building up the event behind the scenes.

Without further ado, welcome to the close of the Formaris Event!

The Dragon Era [Formaris Event Results]Spring, Year 2002 | The Anomalous World In the early pre-dawn hours, the world was quiet.  No birds chirped, no cricket’s tuned their bowstrings.  The wind sang no songs as it whipped through the trees, leaving the forests to stand solemnly in silence.  To the south, the desert waited patiently for the sun to rise and cast its light upon its multi-colored sands.  To the west, the grasses of the plains were still and, to the east, it seemed that a spell had been cast on the night dwellers, for not a creature stirred.   It was quiet, the breath of the world held in anticipation.  For the dawn to come heralded the arrival of spring and, with ...

For those that want the details post-haste, see below!

Summary of the Formaris Group Event Results

  • An impressive total of 65 Formaris Scales were offered to the gods of Anomalous!  Although the race was MUCH closer than we had anticipated, the inhabitants of Anomlaous have spoken… Actaeos wins!  Yay! The world is saved from complete chaos, although it is certainly much changed by the massive amount of scales that were turned in to the ancient shrines.  For a complete summary of the new locations/creatures roaming around Anomalous, be sure to visit the Formaris Scale Offering journal!

  • Much to the surprise of the gods, Astraek got a lot more support than they were anticipating!  In exchange for permanently releasing her hold on the Formaris dragons - thereby ensuring that such chaos will never again threaten Anomalous - Astraek has been allowed to officially return to her seat in the heavens, finally restoring balance to the heavens!  With her powers now completely restored (and her vengeful thirst quenched… for now) the dragon goddess wants to remind the world of her ascendance! Astraek’s Comet can now be seen once a year flying slowly across the skies of Anomalous in the summer season. Red in color and quite large, the comet can be seen during both daytime and nighttime hours but doesn’t stay long.  Those who view the comet at night say that the comet takes on the appearance of the dragoness herself as she eagerly watches over the mortals of the world from above!

  • After Astraek relinquishes her Formaris dragons into Actaeos’s care, the god combined the powers of all the dragons into one mega-sized version of each dragon and finally freed them once and for all!  Three Formaris dragons - one Water, one Earth, and one Air - now float peacefully around Anomalous. They appear to pose no threat to the inhabitants of Anomalous despite their immense size and those that spot them say that, now and then, the dragons are even so kind as to bestow gifts to those below!

  • A few new locations that we have been added as a result of the shake-up!  These include the 'Skybound Platform - The Linx Foothills, Nombeko Territory', the 'Shielded Hall - Linx Tunnels, Linx Territory', and...

  • There is a brand heckin' new territory in Anomalous!  Skymarr Island, home to those affiliated with the Shadow Vanguard, is a floating island that hovers above the rest of Anomalous.  The newly crafted Penumbra Citadel - also having been lifted into the sky - orbits the levitating island like a moon. As the seasons pass, it appears that Skymarr Island floats along what appears to be a predetermined path.

  • On that note, SURPRISE, the Anomalous Map is getting a MAJOR face-lift!  SwordsandSpectacles is hard at work getting us a pretty new map, complete with all the new fandangled and gundamn fancy locations for our characters to explore.  This should give everyone a much better feel of the world and how the various locations within the territories relate to each other.  Be on the look out for this fabulous update!

  • In honor of the Formaris events, a new age is upon Anomalous!  Starting in the Spring, Year 2002, the ‘New Generation’ is over, giving way to the first year of the ‘Dragon Era’!  Be sure to appropriately label upcoming RPs as such.

    • Note!  We will not be resetting the number of the year to avoid confusion on character age, etc.  However, in-game, characters will note the end of the New Generation and henceforth acknowledge the new Dragon Era!

      • Sample Roleplay Timestamp:

        • Spring, Year 2002 of the Dragon Era | Lake Vesta, Free-Roaming Territory

New Group Prompts

Thanks to all the new updates from the Formaris Event, get ready for a bunch of new prompts for your characters to respond to as they interact with the world!

September’s Monthly Prompt | The Dragon EraSeptember 2019 Monthly Prompt | The Dragon Era Prompt
In the Spring of Year 2002, three full-sized Formaris dragons - one Air, one Water, and one Earth - were finally freed from their heavenly bonds by Actaeos and released into Anomalous.  While these massive, divine beasts can make even the northern mountains look small, they appear to be quite gentle and can be seen peacefully floating across all of Anomalous. It is said that, sometimes, the dragons will bestow gifts upon the mortals below.  But, first, you need to catch a glimpse of one! Draw or write about your character catching a glimpse of one of these majestic dragons!  Be careful not to get too close though, as these beasts are best viewed from a respectable distance. Such intense, raw magic courses through their veins that they have a sort of magical shield about them that may render a mortal temporarily unconscious if they wander too close!
  • Special Notes: Remember, these dragons are MASSIVE and can be seen across vast distances!  Please only include ONE dragon in your RP, as their paths do not cross. Be sure to submit your response to the Prompts Form so that your entry isn’t missed!  +1 Experience; limit one experience point per character.
  • Special Requirements: Must occur in the Spring, Year 2002 of the Dragon Era and must feature your character spotting one of the Formaris dragons (Air Formaris , Earth Fomaris , Water Formaris ); can occur anywhere in Anomalous!
  • Possible Drops: 1-20, 31-40, 51-70, & 81-90 = No Item, 21-30 | Dragon Scale (Type varies depending on the dragon being featured), 41-50 | Dragon Claw (Type varies depending on the dragon being featured), 71-80 | Dragon Horn (Type varies depending on the dragon being featured), 91-100 | Powdered Dragon's Tooth.

Other New Prompts Coming Soon!
Be sure to keep an eye on the Dungeons, Prompts, & Shrines journal for new prompts for your characters to respond to, including but not limited to:

  • Astraek’s Comet

  • A New World

  • Elysia’s Valkyries

  • New Neighbors

  • The Queen's Revival

  • And more!

The Dragon Trials

After all the hard work put into making the Formaris dungeons, it would be a shame to let their creativity go to waste!

By visiting any of the makeshift shrines that were created in the honor of Actaeos OR Astraek, your character can begin their very own journey through the Dragon Trials!

The Dragon Trials - Dungeon Quest
Dungeon Prompt | The Dragon Trials
In the Spring of Year 2002, the first year of the Dragon Era, three Formaris dragons - one Air, one Earth, and one Water - were released into the world!  Although these creatures have been freed of their divine shackles and now peacefully float around Anomalous, those who wish to prove themselves may do so by completing the Dragon Trials!  By visiting one of the makeshift shrines erected in the honor of Actaeos or Astraek and making an appropriately themed offered (for example, a bowl of water to embark on the Water Formaris quest), your character will be transported into the dungeon.  Come ready for, although the fate no longer rests on your shoulders, these dungeons will test your intelligence, stamina, and strength and will most certainly push you to your limits.
  • Special Notes: Be sure to specify what trial (Air, Earth, or Water) your character(s) are wishing to embark upon!
  • Special Requirements: Must occur at one of the newly crafted shrines to Actaeos/Astraek in any season in/after Spring, Year 2002!  See below for current shrine locations.
  • Current Shrine Locations:
    • For Astraek:
      • Linx Foothills, Nombeko Territory (see Prove It )
    • For Actaeos:
        • Please note!  Because of the location of this shrine, anyone visiting it will need to be escorted/guided by an Alsaraphem!  Non-Saraphs (or, at least, those who cannot reasonably pass as a Saraph) are forbidden from entering the Mirror Pools!
        • Also note! The background depicted for this shrine is not accurate with the actual interior of the Mirror Pools - which is located deep within Fire Bird Gorge (which is a canyon). If you're going to draw this shrine, please keep that in mind!

Thanks for Playing!
