It's customized Windows 7 Ultimate. Even though it's really good and stable OS, I did many tweaks (and registry hacks) to make it look and behave more like XP.What is visible here: Old school taskbar
I missed Quick Launch and I considered the new default taskbar behavior really messy - I was constantly confused about what is a shortcut and what is a running application - plus I really *needed* text titles 
I also use Stardock Fences "public" (free) version for desktop icon arrangement - download [link] . (Don't update to 2.0 if you want to continue using it for free!)
