in preparation for the free sketches i have to do, i finally picked up my sketchbook after almost a year! no wonder i'm so rusty (and i was rusty when i was sketching last time too. ouch!) anyway, while working out ideas for the free sketches, i wound up coming up with something random that i really connected with. (if you know me well, you'll know why and know that it's nothing to get excited about.)anyway i know technically this is not a great piece, but i'm kinda pleased with it nonetheless. it feels like a great way to start doing traditional work again - doing stuff that means something (to me at least)...

note 2: i took a picture of the drawing rather than scanning it, cause i didn't want to get my scanner dirty. so it's not quite a perfect representation, but you get the idea anyway...

thanks. it was something quick that i did... and probably not something i can revisit anytime soon, due to the content. so for now it will remain very raw and rough. (i may make an effort to get a more accurate scan at some point though. the current one is crap)

Cool! I've been waiting to see another drawing from you. I like it! I know you say it's not really your best work, but I actually like how "rough" it looks.

yeah it was just a quick sketch that turned into a semi-finished piece. i had thought about just using this as a reference for something larger and more developed, but i think that would cause me excess stress and also the whole idea of it being rushed and rough kind-of makes sense for this to me. thanks again
and no, no one mentioned it here, but i noticed someone said something along those lines about the reference i used for the background image... and erm, no... no erection there either!

It's always satisfying when you can make something that not only makes sense for you, but that other people can also connect with. I can see where you might consider using it for a larger project, but yeah...I think it's probably best to just let it stand alone.

and yeah, it's cool to know that a few people connected to it too (though i hope not in quite the same way i do)
i have to start working on my 'free sketches', so anything i might consider doing with this idea will have to wait quite a while! probably it's something i can revisit in a long while... and just start from scratch, using this as a springboard only

thanks. i have fixative actually. it's just a matter of doing it. i'm out of my asthma meds for now, so the spray will probably upset me. maybe next week. and i've seen them totally not even semi that look like that (shrug)
