Material = Pin oak rubbed with boiled linseed oil.
Base= White marble.

I started carving this piece about five years ago because I was tired of working in metal. I set her aside until a couple of days ago when I once more got tired of working in metal. I have very little practice in carving, and I have heard that pin oak is not a particularly good wood for the craft, but I think she turned out fairly well. I think the next carving I do will need to be larger. I found the details difficult to deal with.

Some may be interested to know that the piece of wood I carved her from was a branch that fell during a windstorm. The branch had a 'V' in it and that feature suggested the upraised arms, which is why her left arm is straight up and her right is at an angle.
