Wow. I'm really liking the contrast here, it makes the buildings stand out. It differentiates from how we'd normally view the buildings in the real world: at street level with the "shop fronts" visible, where that whole bottom tier would be our focus and the glory of the skyscrapers would be almost ignored. The road would be in our periphery and we probably wouldn't notice it unless we were hailing a cab. Instead, this blacks out the normal avenue of detail and activity, making the the tops of the buildings, plus the road, the main feature. It's brilliant, it makes the city so majestic. More like the beautiful idea of a city than the boring place where I live my day to day life. Next time I'm out, I might just look up in an attempt to capture something like this. Although, from this massive rant I have just given, you can probably tell that I don't get out all that often.
