Where were YOU when Equestria Girls premiered?To be honest, I have no idea where I was. I ignored Equestria Girls for months, because I thought it was a fan-made movie like Double Rainboom. It wasn't until I gave it a try and saw that it had legit credits and the actual voice actors that I was like "It's real!" And I LOVED IT. And then I was plunged into the world of MLP & EQG collecting and nothing has been the same since.
However, in 2012 there was no Equestria Girls. I had watched the entirety of MLP on YouTube that summer, and was practicing designing and drawing fashion. I created concepts for the fashion of each of the mane 6, as well as Celestia and Luna, which you can find here . When trying to think of projects to work on today, I decided I wanted to recreate these concepts in EQG style vectors!
The issue with these designs is that I created them with human skin tones, while the clothes are the shades of the ponies coats. So, if I go with normal EQG coloring it will look like they're wearing the same colors as their skin is, and it would look weird. So I'm going to go with human skin tones, and if anyone has any issues with the races I choose, I won't hesitate to delete your comments. Let's keep it civil, everypony.
Rarity is up first, mostly because EQD has moved Rarity Day to the 11th and I wanted to be able to provide some artwork, considering she's my second favorite pone. I saw her as very glamorous, with her cutie mark hanging from a string of pearls and a classic light grey dress with off the shoulder sleeves. Funnily enough, the hair I drew originally is pretty close to her EQG hair, they just had more bangs and made it longer. She also totters-er, strides-on purple open toed heels. I also wasn't thinking of them as being teenagers, considering they're most likely in their 20's in the show, so her design looks older than it would if she was in school.

Ah, she's absolutely fabulous, darling!
And hard to believe this part of the franchise started only 4 years ago as a direct to video movie, and now it's branched into its own online series.
(Me personally, I didn't like the idea of EG at the time, not because of the humanization, but because I thought it would end up like Barbie. But, the 2nd movie and a few comics changed my mind).

What is Rarity's race exactly? She's French-Canadian in my head-canon.

I've never really seen Rarity as black. Twilight on the other hand, most likely, even though she's Middle Eastern in my head canon.

I was in the theatre! Me and a few friends drove out of town to go see the film premiere at the cinema. It was really fun and we enjoyed the film much more than we were expecting to.
"Graceful" is the first word I think of when looking at this dress for Rarity. Really love the design! The beeds are very nice touches as well. Lovely!

P.S I like how you draw the human counterparts of the Mane 6 even more so than how they look in the films. There's a slightly softer and more elegant way you shape their faces, at least that's how it looks to me. (I'm not an art expert so this could make no sense, haha) but I can't wait to see you draw the rest of the cast if you post more updated vectors of your old fashion designs!

you know, it's just really wrong that EQD moved Rarity Day to the 11th of September. because we do know that us Americans remembered what happened on that day 16 years ago

hascon got in the way so ed decided to move rarity day a couple of days late true 9/11 isn't the best choice but not everyone will associate that date with arguably the darkest day in our nation's history (granted there are other moments that may qualify).
