hmmm sounds like a paper issue, what kind of paper are you using?

if it's too porous, meaning like dry, something like computer paper, its INCREDIBLY hard to blend.
it's a bit expensive to t0otle around on, but Smooth Bristol, whatever brand you want to buy would be about $5 - $8 depending on where you go to buy it, it's a great paper to use copics on if you don't want to spend the $10 - 15 for marker paper.

If your working with bristol then it might be soemthing that you need to jsut try. I realize that in this pic it doesnt look like it's bleeding through but the ink is actually bleeding through the paper decently, here's a look at what i'm talking about in this person's tutorial towards the bottom: [link]

please let me know if that answered your question!

thanks! it probably is the paper, because I`m generally using that paper from those ancient printers. the kind that is one sheet that you have to rip into individual sheets. Thanks so much

awesomesauce! Honestly i wouldnt use my copics on computer paper or sketch papaer, its really dry, and thus will bleed your markers dry faster. i learned that the hard way, had to replace a LOT of my earlier skin tones before i figured out to switch paper.

to practice, since i didnt want to waste $$paper or markers, i used to cut my bristol into 4ths so that i was only working with like 4.5x6inches rather then the common 9x12. and i got 4 shots at practice before trying something big.

How did you make the highlight on her lips? (looks like she's got gloss on, teehee) Did you use the white gel pen, or was this more copic technique? Thanks!

PS: M'a pretty big fan of your work, thanks for giving this tutorial, I learned a lot about using markers for coloring.

it IS a white gelpen! I'm sure you can use any brand i got this one from an artstore somewhere it was $1, it's a Y&C Gel Xtreme o.7 size.

rather then rolling it b/c it's a ballpoint i dab it on there so that it's not a straight line and that you dont have a tiny ball mark through the middle of the white :3

Honestly when iwa s in HighSchool i was obsessed with gelpens so have have loads of them, granted half of them or more dont work anymore, but i would say that if you like making anything with markers it's a good idea to pick a set of them up. any kind, but while silver and gold i would think would be the more important ones of the bunch. Anything else is just awesomeness.

Question though, which set of copic markers do you own?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sugar0o In reply to Ikaru21 [2012-11-06 02:39:32 +0000 UTC]

whoa! totally late replying, but i dont own a specific set of copics, at least not that i'm aware of, it's whatever hobby lobby carries, but, I am fortunate enough to have lived in 2 great cities with at least one rather awesome art store there, so i've got access, or have had access to all 310+ colors, currently i'm pimping about 1/2 the colors copics have, NOT exactly 1/2 but close. count wise i'm at about 150, but i have a bunch of dups. about 10 duplicates total. so maybe more like 2.25/5 ? something like that. ^_^ sorry for the late reply!

No worries thanks for getting back with me, I wish I was closer to a hobby lobby...no wait...that could spell disaster to my wallet...probably a good thing I live some ways away from one. But if you still feel bad you could
tell me how to make those digital name stamps you do

**edit > define brush preset.

then name it, and it auto adds to your brush list

sugar0o In reply to Ikaru21 [2012-11-17 13:06:21 +0000 UTC]

oh that's easy!

open PS, and make sure it's a new window that's no bigger then 1000x1000, draw in black or whatever color you want, and then when your done with your "stamp" or new brush in this case, go up to edit, preset manager, and then set brush. I think (off the top of my head) that's how you do it, I'll have to double check when i get home from work, as of right now i hafta get going so i'm not late to work!

this is AWESOME i wish i had enough monies to buy copics, i only have like 10 of the regular colors no awesome skin tone colors.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

sugar0o In reply to Jahpan [2011-04-17 08:51:08 +0000 UTC]

i would say get E000, E01, E02, E04, E21, E33, E41, E53, and E93, as far as flesh tones go. 11, and 13, are good too :3
