Description
When ones thinks of weapons of WWII, one does not naturally think of the service rifle of the french military, because, well, they got rather 'rolled over' pretty quick, quite early on. However this is a living example of one such rifle. The MAS 36, originally put into service in, well, 1936, this particular rifle was made and completed in the factory as intended, prewar, and kept in the arsenal until 1939 [per receiver markings]. Which is unlike the -vast- majority of surviving examples of this firearm, which were built in basements and bombed out warehouses from scavenged parts taken from bombed out or raided factories by the french resistance during the war. As in, my rifle has all matching numbers on all parts, and actually shoots straight with good groupings, compared to the majority. Fires the now defunct 7.5x54mm French round, which is rather hard to find unless you make them yourself, which is the plan for myself.Related content

Oh it is, it is by far and away the best designed [mainly because it borrows the best features from just about every other military bolt action service rifle of the era] and easiest to shoot rifle [in the traditional sense, aka, not modern features] I've ever laid my hands on. Hell even my buddy's Remington 700 with an aftermarket trigger feels worse than this. Honestly were it not for the Enfield SMLE having a 10 round mag over the MAS 36's 5, I'd put this as a major contender for the best bolt action rifle of wwii.
