This is so GOOD! Great imagery and metaphor to describe the depth of your speaker's love and these immediately brought to mind Ted Kooser's www.tedkooser.net/works.shtml#… poem, After Years. He's one of my most favorite conversational and accessible poets. Ace stuff!

Just read some of Ted´s poetry. Wonderfully down to earth and full of lifes experiences. Enjoyed the few I read. I feel honoured to be compared with him Thanks

I'm currently in a funk and rethinking how I write given all I'm reading from younger (and very popular) writer's on DA! Feel totally 'out of style' and irrelevant. I just reread a lot of Ted's poetry, too, but also every word of his Poetry Manual which outlines his approach to teaching and writing poetry. Yes, he is down to earth and keeps things very simple - which makes what he accomplishes look easy. It isn't at all. Like most published poets I know of he rewrites a whole lot before he considers a poem 'finished'.

I really only started writing after my husband died as a vent for my feelings which still, to this day, consume me at times. So most of my poetry deals with deep feeling of grief. On this journey I´ve discovered I love writing for children too due to collaborations with deviant artist Aline Kurbiel. I have written a good few poems to some of her paintings with her permission.
I think if poetry is written from real experiences and with true emotion then it touches the person reading it, which makes it worthwhile for both parties..
I am experiencing a bit of a block too at the moment not only with my writing but also my art and other hobbies, waiting for the creative flame to re-ignite, so to speak

Yes, I can see from several of your pieces that you are feeling deep sorrow. But a writing collaboration! What a lovely way to work toward continuing a meaningful life without your husband in it. What a tribute to his influence. I'm going to look up Aline and read some of the poems you created in response to her work too! I like the idea of collaboration. Can loosen that block can't it?

Oh indeed. Her work is just wonderful. She is a very talented artist. The poems with paintings attached are mostly collaborations with Aline. I have also made some with my son (also an Artistic Talent ) and together we are working on a childrens illustrated poetry book which we hope to get published.

It´s truly unique way of using prompt moon and sun. I like that you described them in the context of human expressions, that was really interesting.

Lovely. You do so well with the prompts. If I see a prompt I go blank. Strange that!

Thank you
I think Poetry is good when it´s written from the heart about true feelings, so when you write about things that effected your emotions the reader can relate.
