Description Alright, i'm going to be a little ranty so heads up:

I got this email from DeviantArt and i'm pretty sure most of you have if you have email notifications turned on saying that the "new" DeviantArt change will occur late May. This immediately pissed me off because one of the reasons why I loved DeviantArt in the first place is because how easy it was to navigate and use the damn thing. After the site "updates and fixes", it keeps getting worse and worse to use. This forced change is the last straw for me.

I knew, well, we all knew this was coming, but now I don't know what to think now. I've used the new eclipse interface and its not that it isn't modern nor pretty looking, but I just use older computers because I cannot afford to have a new one and using Eclipse on it is painfully slow. I'm doing a partial goodbye when this happens. Unfortunately, I will be no longer able to afford premium memberships to the site because of this unemployment Covid-19 bullshit. I always put high quality (most of the time) into my work and on DeviantArt, it kind of shows. I haven't been active most of the time because I'm in college about to graduate and that's been put on hold.

What I'm saying is i'm not leaving DeviantArt, but I won't care to learn the new interface and might give up on it, and I might check it a little know and then, but not everyday like I used to. Using Eclipse, it keeps logging me out and that really makes me want to throw fucking phone out of my bedroom window; its a little dramatic but it is annoying and fuck. Also, when using mobile, it can never determine whether it wants to be a mobile site or desktop and I have to keep adjusting it so I can look at something.

A little History:
I also need to say this. I first accessed DeviantArt in 2013 and 2014 to read a comic that I like. They went to DeviantArt instead of tumblr back then. In 2016, I was tired of backtracking over and over again through my browser history to make sure the comic link was still there. So I created my account (still using my original username), and finally saved the comic so I can come back to it later. Then a good friend of mine, who is no longer a user here, tought me how to use the interface and I can upload pictures and give constructive criticism to pictures and art. I learned from my family members that I was pretty good at taking sunsets, which is about 50% of my page's art. During early 2016, I had a lot of problems in my life, I had one of my really good friends commit suicide and I was on the verge of doing it was well. I decided to get into some fandoms which have really helped with that and after I started uploading pictures, I got a lot of amazing and friendly comments saying how awesome the pictures were, which gave me a lot of confidence and positivity. During those times, I had no positivity in my life and in a dark place. By having those comments, I felt like I was needed again. So DeviantArt has been a big part of my life.

I love all my watchers and followers that love my art, and don't worry, I will not be deleting my profile. I might come back, maybe. I might be making this seem like its the end of the world, but I don't deal with change easily. It takes me a while to change into something new, even a new user interface like this. I'm going to miss the old deviantart.

Thank you for reading. I'll still be here, but not online as much. Please comment and tell me what you think of all of this!

I haven’t had an account since then, but I’ve been actively browsing and using Deviantart since 2006. I love this site dearly and it’s sad to see what it’s coming to. I agree completely with what you’ve said, and I hope things work out for the better. We’re just gonna have to wait and see, I guess :/

Thank you for sharing your opinion and yes, I definitely agree. They say its like a "transition" but this is more like an overhaul.

Absolutely. It almost feels as if the staff’s purposefully trying to push people away so they can cut down on the cost to run the site or something. It just feels like they’re reaching for something ridiculous that’s they already know is gonna come back to bite em in the ass. Well just have to wait and see.
