Rain

Rain. Kent liked the rain, to an extent. He didn’t like how bothersome it was to carry around an umbrella everywhere, lest get soaked, but he did enjoy the crisp weather and the darkened sky. It was raining today, the math teacher grading tests to pass the time as the rain pounded at his classroom window.

Ade was running. He was soaked, head to toe. His face was cold, hot streaks making their presence as the tears flowed from his multicolored eyes. He lost his umbrella a while ago.

When the redhead barged into his room, Kent jumped slightly. Despite this initial surprise, as soon as he saw the messy mop of bright red hair, he resumed his grading. It was normal, he thought. It as when he heard the dripping as Ade walked over to his usual desk up front that he paid more attention.

“Ade, please, don’t drip in my—Dear lord, boy, you’re soaking!” he exclaimed, setting his red pen aside and getting up, grabbing a towel from a cabinet. “Here,” he said, handing the teen the cloth, the boy timidly grabbing the towel, wrapping it around his dripping head.

“Alright… So what happened?” the older man sighed, sitting on the desktop of a nearby seat. The redhead remained silent for a while, silent tears continuing to fall, an occasional hiccup breaking the silence.

“I-I… Can you hold me?” Ade whispered softly, a hiccup following the quiet words.

“I… God, kid, why do you do this to me?” Kent chuckled softly, shaking his head. Ade only stared up at the older man with big, tear filled eyes, sparkling green and blue. Kent sighed, muttering to himself softly.

“Come here,” Kent grunted as he leaned down to wrap his arms around the slender, shaking body of the student that never ceased to amaze him.

“Only for you kid.”
