In the absence of lineart, any given space between two points is going to look wider. Serperior looks a lot slimmer in the sketch - it's kind of an optical illusion.
The oversaturation of white is a beautifully soft stylistic effect, but it makes everything look more pastel, rather than more comic-book-esque. It's a toss-up of what your intention is. I honestly like the end product better than the sketch.
The tree and hills stand out as particularly comic-book in the sketch, and they lose a lot of visual impact in the transition to the final product due to their edges vanishing. Their dark shading also becomes less contrasted since Sceptile and Serperior are also dark...everything is dark, really, compared to the now brightened white sky.
Of course, that's just one way to frame it: you can also say the tree and hills fit in with the rest better, instead of standing out so obnoxiously much. Again, it's a toss-up of what your intent is.
One of the largest and final differences I'll mention is Sceptile. In the sketch, the lines under his eyes and surrounding his mouth, and the ominously dark shadow he casts against the tree make him look world-weary and mildly unhealthy, especially when contrasted with Serperior, who has no lines or light lines on the face only.
Post-transition, Sceptile's and Serperior's faces have very little difference since they are colored the same way. Sure Sceptile is still thrown into shadow more, but 1) it's more natural-looking and 2) the light in the background makes all the dark colors more similar. They are stylistically a lot closer than in the sketch, which makes them less interesting, because of the lack of a dynamic difference in their faces. However, again, I like the fact that everything comes together in the final product, either because they are stylistically more similar or they were just hit with a lot of the same overlaying filters.
However, for cartoons/comic-book styles, you'll definitely want that contrast everywhere, with bold lines emphasizing tiredness or just making the characters pop out a bit more at the viewer.

Om, okay, I'm sorry to answer this in such a short and dumb way, but still. ._.
I had completely no intention to imply things other than the presence itself of the object by the lighting. I just drew things without giving it any thought >.>
And, I guess, the lack of contast is a good thing, since this was supposed to have, like, a calm and friendly atmosphere. Or something.

I mean, the end result is kinda epic, so that workflow obviously works. Haha.
I don't think that sounds dumb at all! I can talk about light and contrast all I want but at the end of the day I can't draw and you can! XD

Thanks a lot ^.^
It's just that I always feel stupid when people send me looong messages (not always in DA, that is) and I have completely nothing to say and I feel bad about it ._.

IT'S JUST SO GOOD.
Was this made in Photoshop? The grass brushes look very familiar...

I'm most definitely sure they're not. In fact, I'll go find the uploader and I'll show the brush pack to you.

although i do enjoy your colored finished style (it's very YOU and different) i do really enjoy your sketches as well, like you said. i think like turtletank198 said it's probably because your sketches have more definite shading and lines, also in my pinion it looks a bit more cartoony and cutsie which is what i like.
so either way i like your work

That's the problem, the thing is that I can't keep the shape. When I color, no matter what I do, for some reason the result looks a little different from the sketch.

well maybe if you used harder lines or maybe less highlighting, i think your highlighting washes out the whole picture too much. idk i'm really bad at judging art, especially digital and especially art that already looks good, it's hard finding faults >.<

If you think your sketches are better, perhaps you should draw harder lines?
Either way, it looks amazing.
