I suggest you start building the first two layers and when it starts to fall apart, add the third layer on top to strengthen it. Does that make sense?

Hi may I ask you how you make the little shit of paper. Did you buy them or did you cut them from larger paper ?

I started with pieces of A4 paper and folded and ripped the rectangles out. It took me AGES. >_______>

I'm sorry for abusing the comment button(), but in the picture it is shown that the modules are in quite a distance from eachother... when i do that, the modules just fall apart, and in your picture,(sorry) the modules are big, and you can see them very well (mine don't)... Hrlp Mee

it is a bit thicker than normal copy paper right?

synconi In reply to sumbreon [2011-04-03 19:28:16 +0000 UTC]

I use the type of paper we put into our printer- A4 laser copier paper, 75g.

Naww don't say that! It takes a bit of practice to make the modules all nice and tight, so they fit together well. Just don't give up!

It's very pretty, and I admire your patience, because I actually attempted making one of these and the joints were too loose, or folding them was very difficult since they were so little, and the ring just wouldn't stay round, etc
so now you have a fan

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

synconi In reply to shirubi-san [2011-02-23 14:13:17 +0000 UTC]

Aww have you tried folding this again? As long as the modules are tight enough, everything should fit together fine.

kingmancheng In reply to ??? [2011-02-17 11:20:28 +0000 UTC]

Btw you know each individual unit of paper, you know shops where you can get them in packs?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

synconi In reply to kingmancheng [2011-02-17 19:22:45 +0000 UTC]

Erm, I know you can get packs in Hong Kong for, like, 16 dollars or something? Bet you can get them online as well...

I just fold and rip out all those rectangles myself.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kingmancheng In reply to synconi [2011-02-17 20:00:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I know you can get them cheap in Hong Kong but we're stuck in the expensive UK.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

synconi In reply to kingmancheng [2011-02-17 20:08:31 +0000 UTC]

I KNOW. It sucks.

I basically don't ever buy paper over here and just wait until I'm back in HK and then go crazy.

Yuss, while my family bring back dried mushrooms (used to, not allowed through customs now...) and clothes and things, I carry all this lovely pretty paper!

kingmancheng In reply to synconi [2011-02-17 20:57:13 +0000 UTC]

I never let people me clothes.

I love good paper. I need to get back to origami sometime but no time right now.

Need to concentrate on other work for career path.
