Description Just a comparison... I was just playing around with different effects and gradient tools to see what I could do. My goal was to create a bigger contrast and give it more of a manga appearance.

At first I thought I made too much of a contrast but I guess not...

You can really see it in the background; it's not as noticable with the character.

I did a lot more with the back ground, which is probably why... I just brightened the brights on the pants and hat and tinted the blue. I'm mostly doing this to see what similarities there are in the gimp program in comparison to the professional photoshop (quite a bit, I'm bitterly finding out). Originally I was going to do a tilt shift effect on the photo (a great way to make things look kind of animated) but I couldn't figure out where all of the gradient tools specific to that method were and needless to say, I grew bored of looking... In the end, tweaking things in a given photo is always fun.

I can see the brightened-ness of the pants and hat now that you've pointed it out. I haven't used photoshop before, but I'll have to try gimping some pictures :3
I have no idea what a tilt shift effect is ._. but it sounds cool. You'll have to figure that out and show me.

It basically makes things look like toys. The only thing though, it doesn't necessarily work out well on portrait photos or people when they're close up.

:/ But then I have to go get permission from the artist and find the tools in gimp... eh.

Eh, we're suppose to be doing a texture and layers imaging to make a spooky house photo. I was thinking of using it for the invitations this year's Halloween party. :3 I'll post that one.

Not necessarily, there were a couple less practical things I did for this picture that I wouldn't have otherwise done in class.
