Salvadore had been preparing for this day. Salvadore had been practicing jumping, leaping, twisting, and turning for weeks with his handler Jake. Salvadore had practiced jumping over boulders, logs, snow drifts, even small saplings. Salvadore leapt over rocks, did up to nearly 90 degree turns mid-air, and twisted his body in different ways as he prepared for this day. All the work, all the preparation, had been leading up to today. Salvadore wasn't nervous at all. Jake, on the other hand, was another matter. Jake was shaking, and though he was trying to hide it, he didn't do a very good job. This was due to the fact he was sitting on top of Salvadore, who could feel his shaking. 'But,' Salvadore thought to himself confidently, 'Today is all about me. I'm the one performing. If Jake is nervous, we should do fine, because today is about me.' Jake leaned forward, tightening his grasp on Salvadore's halter. "Let's go, Salvadore," he whispered, his voice shaking a bit. Salvadore took off, navigating through trees, bushes, and all sorts of other wildlife. Then the jump came. Salvadore effortlessly cleared the humongous log in one leap, as Jake held on tightly. Salvadore stood there, panting, Jake hugging his sides. "I think we did it," Jake whispered triumphantly to Salvadore. "I think we did it.
