Rank up image for Val from Apprentice to Proficient
Draw a full body image with a background OR write a story of at least 1,500 words showing your asotu flushing out prey toward their handler. The handler should be depicted.

Kaleho glared at Val as they walked through the forest. Kaleho just stomped along but Val examined every inch of ground before taking a step, a habit he still hadn’t grown out of, even into his teenage years. The old man huffed and tapped his foot while Val sniffed a patch of weeds. When Val was smaller, he could be picked up and moved and everyone was happy. Now that he was quickly approaching Kaleho’s own height, and had long surpassed Kaleho’s weight, Val was free to stop as long as he pleased because no one could do a thing about it.
Five minutes passed before Kaleho started tugging on the lead. Val snuffled the weeds.
Ten minutes passed before Kaleho stood behind Val and tried to push him forward. Val snuffled the weeds.
Fifteen minutes passed before Kaleho climbed up on Val’s back and slapped his rump repeatedly. Val snuffled the weeds.
An hour passed before Kaleho gave up and leaned against Val, who had slightly turned his head and was snuffling a slightly different patch of weeds. The old man dug out a cigar, lit it, and stuck it between his teeth.
“Dumb animal never lithenths to me anymore,” he lisped around the cigar. He watched the smoke drift around in the sunbeams, and he himself started to drift as he stood against Val.
The next thing Kaleho knew, he was on the ground with a terrible pain in his head. He sat up and rubbed the back of his head, then looked around for Val. The grey Asotu was nearby, thank goodness, barking at a bush. Kaleho sighed and stood up, then limped over to where Val stood.
“Are you actually going to do anything useful today, or should we just go home right now?” Kaleho growled at Val. At that moment, a pheasant squawked and fluttered out of the bush, straight at Kaleho.

I'd definitely get some clarification on this though (as you already are) both on the handler and the complex background part because to qualify as complex you need things as depth and such (so, not related to how complex it was to create).

Well the story is not 1,500 long. I think the handler should be in the part that actually counts for the level up^^
(I'm not an admin so this information might be wrong^^)

In his last rank-up image I did the same thing... An image of him and his handler in the story, which was only 1125 words here: taandy.deviantart.com/art/Pt-5… I'll ask about it to be sure, though... I'll also ask about the background but I did use a lot more layers than can really be seen...and the description (last time I checked) of complex background was one with multiple layers like that...
I'll still ask the admins just to be sure, though ;_;

Well but to level to a Apprentice no handler is needed.
"Draw a full body image with a background OR write a story of at least 1,500 words showing your asotu's first experience learning how to hunt one of the following: shorebird, iguana, or a nutria."
it says nothing about The handler should be depicted as it does on the task to be proficent.
Yeah better ask an admin XD Keep me up what they say I really would like to know.
I'm always comparing it to the guide they made and what they wrote in the description^^
