Description That's right, they had a gun exhibit at the air museum as well. If I remember corrrectly, it was a traveling exhibit, and it included the dioramas I posted yesterday. The weapons included ranged from muskets to WW1 and 2 to (mostly) modern day.

From top to bottom, we have a Colt Commando M16A3 carbine, a Heckler and Koch HK-91/G3 rifle, a Fabrique National FAL Rifle, a Sig-Sauer Model P226 pistol, and a Beretta Model 92 pistol.

I know this is an old pic, but that Colt Commando is more of a standard issue M16 rifle. Can't tell if its an A1 or A2, as it looks like some parts have been swapped. (Has A1 pistol grip with A2 handgards) It can't be an A3 has the carry handle/rear sight is not removable and if it were a carbine the barrel would be shorter.Β

Would love to have that FAL though. . .

I was just going off of what the labels said, but as some of the discussions below show they aren't all accurate. Thanks for the info.

the G3 has full Auto capacity but fires a smaller round and is less acurate over distances. The FAL is semi-auto although you can modify it or get the british L1A1 which is identical but it has full auto.
In a nutshell I think the G3 is good in close quarters, but the FAL is good for long range fighting.

I must correct you first.

Mmm.. wait.. you said that G3 has smaller round than FN FAL? Wow.. Both G3 and FN FAL used 7.62 X 51mm NATO, and have same range too, over 800m. And, FN FAL has automatic varian, but L1A1 JUST has semi-automatic only! And, G3 is not good for CQB as UN Troops said in Somalia.

Thanks...I think. I realized my mistake when I went back and looked up both the FAL and G3 in my weapon encyclopedia. I feel kind of stupid...

Mmm.. what is your weapon encyclopedia? I can recommended this for you:

The 21st Century Small Arms - Chris McNab
The Encyclopedia of Small Arms : WWII and Modern - Chris Bishop
The Histories of Sub Machine Gun - Darma Aji
Illustrated Guns - Stephen B.
Nazi's War Machines - Darma Aji
etc

I have 7 books of small arms encyclopedia, 3 books about tank, 1 book about fighter-planes, 1 book about battle ship, etc.
