Here's another comics-exclusive team, the Solar Power Rangers.

All of them except for Purple and Orange are previous rangers gaining new powers:

Yellow - Tanya from Zeo

Green - Cam from Ninja Storm

Pink - Kimberly from MMPR, moreso as Ranger Slayer here

Black - Mike from Lost Galaxy

Red - Andros from In Space

Blue - Heckyl from Dino Charge

Purple is the leader (More/less, I guess) - Ellarien

Orange is a palette swap - Remi

I do like them more than the Omega Rangers. I think it's interesting to give returning rangers new suits that are very loosely inspired by their original suits. Outside of the helmets: Green has his vest, somewhat; Pink has her thigh pads and cape; Black has his knee pads, a bit of his chest hexagon, and cape; Red has the multicolored blocks on his chest; and Blue has his red arms and armored pads; Yellow....I dunno, I don't think her design really evokes any of Zeo/Ohranger to me.

The helmets with their golden arcs and jutting black are a bit odd and seem disjointed. The asymmetrical-ness of their designs (for me) leaves a little to be desired because I do prefer more symmetry. I do think these "look cool" but they fail the "can a child draw it?" test most Sentai suits try to stick to. I do like the star pattern in their designs; I used the same technique here that I first developed for Kyuranger and have used since. I don't think it looks as I dunno "nebula-y" as their concept art seems to go for; there's no real "cloud" in their star pattern, but I think it still works just fine.

Purple/Violet tho, I'm always going to want more of. It's kinda funny that Boom Comics have given PR two Purple/Orange duos in these two and the kinda/sorta joke Bulk and Skull Rangers. I am a little bummed that the only two returning Rangers from the Disney-current era (basically the last 20 or so years) are Cam and Heckyl (who wasn't even a ranger in his series). I'd like to think a White Solar based on the White Jungle Fury Rhino Ranger/GekiChopper's design would be cool. Silver and Gold I don't have as much of a preference for, but he'd be my pick for any potential White Solar Ranger. But I get it, adult fans obsessively buy the comics, adult fans obsessively want O.G. Saban Era stuff. Still a shame tho.
