Description

I've been reading the book Star Wars Lost Stars and I really loving the book, and the romance between Thane Kyrell and Ciena Ree, so I made an art piece of them. The background was inspired by a scene from later in the book.

Star Wars was created by George Lucas

Star Wars Lost Stars was written by Claudia Grey

Also, it doesn’t make sense for a black female character to be aligned with an evil organization that George Lucas intentionally modeled after the Nazis.

You know what else? The rebel’s family is loaded. He hates their guts but they’re loaded

besides that is just the inspiration point for the Galactic Empire. Any deviation from that is because this is a fictitious universe that has different rules from the Nazis. there's a troupe called fantastic racism (fantasy racism would be a more accurate name) that is a little more accurate to how the empire views that issue. It makes far more sense for a black female to be a part of it than Grand Admiral Thrawn. When it comes down to it I think the Emperor cares more about how well you can do your job or if you have some unique ability to bring to the table.

I love them, but Ciena's an idiot for staying loyal to the Empire. How can she witness the Empire's horrific tyranny across the galaxy and NOT join the Rebel Alliance?

She’s an Imperial. Of course she’s gonna feel that way.

my point is, it's not just a matter of switching sides, it's also a matter of seeing the Rebels in a different light. Thane after all didn't go straight to the Rebels he had to find out for himself that they were the good guys. Ciena didn't start to see them like that until the last chapter.

naive, and bound by a twisted code of Honor is more like it, not to mention what could befall her family, especially her mother who's sentenced to hard Labor in an Imperial mine. Plus for most of the book she saw the empire from the lofty vantage point of a Star Destroyer window. and when she saw the truth there was no way, but capture, or death
