Description since the next asset file is taking a little bit of time (and I'm partially busy with dinosaur sunday coming up) and it's been quite a while since my last post....
I decided to showcase an interesting thought I had in my head...

which started out as a Question....
if HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING, JW3 were to have a feathery variant of their "Velociraptor antrrhopus" what could you imagine it looking like?
and what sort of stories could you imagine with them?
I myself wondered at that, since as I stated this journal, there are indeed a few ways they could go about this
-www.deviantart.com/taliesaurus…

So I drew up a possible idea for a feathery raptor character that could work in the world that the jurassic franchise is setting up.
where genetic power is open-source and dinosaurs are everywhere.
I hope you like him....

I call him "Grendel".
(though I did consider calling him Scar/Brutus/Lucifer etc)

and he's a model called "VRA-06-Alpha"
otherwise known as a "B.R.U.T.U.S raptor" (I don't know what to make that short for sorry.)
made with the intention of "perfecting" ingen's de-extinction method by introducing a bit more avian DNA into the system. Specially that of a vulture and an ostrich.

and he's a variant of raptor illegally produced by a rival genetics company (maybe biosyn, who knows) and raised in conditions that are VERY similar to the original raptors in the first film.
(kept in cramped conditions, poor parental care, just like, the big one, the indominus and the indoraptor etc)
he was subject to many forms of lab-testing, the stress of which caused him to pull feathers out of his arms, tail and flanks

"GENETIC FAULTS"
though he has feathers, due to his genetic makeup, he's still not a "pure" dinosaur, he still has specific differences to his ancestor....such as...

-His sickle claws are much longer and more more talon like than what a normal raptor (like deinonychus/"velociraptor atrrhopus") would have. This gives him a needle-like prediction when killing his prey by slicing their throat or belly.
-he doesn't have feathers covering his head. (side effect of vulture DNA.) Nor his underside (ostrich DNA)
-he did have a SMALL fan of tail-feathers, but he chewed them off in his stress (as mentioned before)
-In terms of size he is slightly bigger than blue (making him almost utahraptor/dakotaraptor sized, but still much smaller than ripper. (specially i mean somewhere around 7.6 feet tall and almost 6.7 metres long)
-and of course, his hands are still pronated.

BREEDING PURPOSE: lab-testing, cage-fighting and testing potential for a possible support unit (mainly in the police force).
as well as trying to "perfect" ingen's de-extinction method, it's been bred mainly as a cage-fighting, where people places bets on dinosaurs to who wins and who gets their throat ripped open. Some researchers also attempted to test it's military applications, subjecting it to EXTREME trauma, just to test it's pain-tolerance.

the idea is that if they are hoping to make an animal with an EXTREMELY high pain-tolerance that could potential work as a replacement for police dogs in some very hostile areas.
unfortunately, for now, they are merely testing hostile behaviour and pain-tolerance so they don't treat this breed of raptor very well.

so... what do you lot think?

and if YOU could imagine a feathery raptor that could fit into the jurassic universe...
WHAT WOULD YOU IMAGINE A JW3 RAPTOR TO LOOK LIKE?
WHAT WOULD BE YOUR STORY BEHIND IT?

FUN-DETAIL: as you can see, he also is COVERED in scars from cage-fights with other dinosaurs, non-lethal bullet wounds, and plucked feathers (from the extreme stress that inflicts him). clearly, this poor guy had a VERY rough life.

I really like the idea but don't you think this would tick a lot of people especially if they don't know the context of it?

uh ...... no i am more of opinion to have more hybrids than real dinosaur .... saw that dr Wu did not give his works hard the fact that the lack of dna is who amalgamates with other animals, I am more opinion on the chaos effect line

Taliesaurus In reply to Wolfhooligans [2019-02-13 18:19:32 +0000 UTC]

heck it's still technically a hybrid (in a purely technically sense)

of the nublar-raptor DNA and vulture/ostrich DNA.

does delta have feathers ?? yet this raptor is composed of dna birds but where are the feathers!  he does not have any

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Taliesaurus In reply to Wolfhooligans [2019-02-13 18:58:13 +0000 UTC]

not quite...
delta is MOSTLY normal nublar raptor with subtle tweaks
and the bird DNA was just a cosmetic trait for her colour.
like blue's black-throated monitor.

nope in the studio they wanted to make different raptor to close close the mouth to the paleothologue who raler of jurassic park and world, because the dino was not correct and some did not have feathers

didn't you read the description?

I openly acknowledged that it's still NOT a "pure" dinosaur.
and even pointed out differences to Grendel's ancestor.
such as...
-pronated wrists
-lack of feathers on it's head and underside
-and it being the size of utahraptor (despite being a variant of deinochyus)

Now that is a scary animal.

Like, even without feathers of any kind, i'd be a lot more content with this in the next film.

just to ask how did you like the fact that I had that grendel used to have more feathers but because of how he was treated, he pulled them out in stress.

well, i will say it'd be interesting to see how blue would interact with it...

Allorock2 [2019-02-12 16:47:34 +0000 UTC]

He looks like a mutated Turkey or a very early version of Indoraptor and should belong to the Secure Contain and Protect Foundation.(SCP)

Grendel has much longer sickle claws than a normal raptor which for some reason makes me shiver.

Can someone please give this guy a caring parent!, he doesn't deserve to be treated this way.

Grendel is good and proper, a hideous monster giant that kills whatever bothers him. Fits like a glove.

Lucifer is too on the nose and the others are taken for other dino characters anyways.

what do you think of him?

TheWatcherofWorlds In reply to Taliesaurus [2019-02-12 16:03:23 +0000 UTC]

I would feel sorry, but not dare get a foot near him.

He reminds me of a couple turkeys I saw in a bird park, the cocks were in a standoff, circling each other and ruffling, their booms were pretty intimidating.

I must say those solid spheres of chub and fluff were true dinosaurs.
