the lighting is very nice and I like the tones, just contrasty enough to keep a light feel.

That's another lovely shot of this couple. The image is so clear and the lighting is spot on. Did you use a reflector, or a fill-in flash at all?
Shooting two people does add an extra level of interest, doesn't it? But I guess it must be at least twice as difficult to do!

No reflectors or flash. I'm experimenting doing different things with the natural light (blacking out some windows, blacking off some of the reflecting walls etc.). I'm really starting to get to know that room pretty well.
Shooting two people is definitely much more challenging, I think I'm going to do more of it. When both of them are looking at the camera who's eyes do you focus on for one thing?
This couple look very good together though so it made the shoot pretty easy.

Thanks, that's really interesting and helpful. I do appreciate you taking the time and trouble to answer my questions.
I live in a small terraced house and haven't enough rooms to have a studio, so I'm looking to 'convert' my dining room (which doesn't see much dining and already doubles as my office) into a makeshift studio. It gets afternoon light, which should help.
I read somewhere else on DA that lavender coloured walls help with skin tones. Do you have a view on a good wall colour?
I'm very early in my journey into portraiture, but I'm reasonably pleased with what I'm doing so far [link] . But I think I might try shooting two people at once, if I can find the subjects. I'm always ready for a new challenge!
Thanks again.

I've already checked out your gallery before, you have some nice work.
I've never shot in a room with lavender covered walls but I do know that the colour of the walls will have a very marked effect on the light. It may well be true but I'm not sure you could have a "one size fits all" approach, I would imagine lavender walls may look good on some subjects but not on others.

Thanks for the encouragement, and also for the helpful thoughts on wall colour! Much appreciated.
