Prologue

"Oh, honey, don't forget this!"
"Mom I don't need a scarf."
"Yes you do, or you'll get frostbite."
"...Fine."
Wrapping the pale yellow scarf around her neck, A young girl stepped outside and closed the door behind her. A snowy suburb lay before her, still and silent as the sun set and snow drifted from the gray sky. She made her way down the walkway and across the street, snow crunching under her boots the whole way.
Slipping between two hedgerows, She followed an ice path that led to the back yard of an old, decrepit two-story.
"Sanctuary..." She whispered.
This house was thought to be haunted by the spirit of a vengeful girl, killed by her jealous mother.
She knew that was just a myth. No... The only thing that haunted that house was a 15-year-old with dark hair and one brown eye, one gold eye.
Kiriia.

Kiriia was always sad, and always spoke softly. She always wore gray pants with a white and pale yellow top. She always spent the night in the old house at the end of the street, and if you listened real hard, you could almost hear her sing.
But who did she sing to? She had no friends... at least, not on Earth. No, she sang to the stars. She loved how beautiful they were, and hoped that her singing would make them happy and always shine bright. But tonight... The stars weren't shining. She ascended the creaky stairs gracefully, taking a left and going to the door at the end of the hall. She had spent so much time bringing blankets and trinkets to this room, and had made it her own. The light was always, always on in this room. But when she opened the door, there was no light, not even from the window.
It was pitch black inside.
