Description
110918-A-VB845-294U.S. Army Capt. Rader gives an Afghan boy a marker outside of the District Center in Spin Boldak
City, Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, Sep. 18, 2011. (U.S. Army photo by Spc. Kristina Truluck/Released)
Kids out in these villages are obsessed with pens. From what I understand, they're not
allowed to even get into school without basic supplies like this.

I just realized, you guys probably had such a huge effect on that area if a school is even present in the area.

Eh...yes and no.Β Depending on the area, the Taliban were taking advantage of the school kids.Β =/

Mother fuckers, all it takes is one Apache crew to see a kid being a mule for them to attack. It's sad really. Chris Kyle had seen a mother with her child walk up to some Marines and whip out a grenade, fortunately for the Marines he shot the grenade before it could be employed, not so fortunate for the child nearby.

Why do you yankees need to play the role of the world police all the time? Let those 3rd world assholes kill themselves without interrupting them.
You're not interested in 'keeping the peace' or 'being the good guys'; your soldiers are mere puppets of your sick government trying to push their nose into places where it doesn't belong, guarding the oil and other assets. You are hypocrites.

Honestly, it varies.Β Some of them do it to get brownie points, some do it for power.Β Us little guys try our best to help those in need down there because we give a damn.Β

Because some of us can't stand the thought of little kids and women being killed for no reason.

A marker. ... Stuff that gets thrown around any office like the cheap trash they are, is like a treasure chest key to these boys. Key to the treasure chest called 'school', containing treasure called 'learning', both of which are treated like lamp posts here in the States - just something that's there and always there so people don't really care about that much.

Absolutely.Β After learning that they weren't allowed to go to school unless they already had those supplies, I started keeping a stash in my bag all the time.Β It's amazing how much we take for granted every where else.Β

This picture saddens me a bit, cuz its not like you see military personnel from other countries just walking around our streets with equipment n stuff. reminds me that many in this country take their safety for granted

Too true.
I noticed all kinds of reactions to us being there on patrols. Some people appreciated it, others hated it and the rest didn't care.
