Deming Cowboy Arena

Shooting at noon is never my favorite, but I've learned how to work with the light after a few months of photographing extreme cowboy races from midmorning to midafternoon. I was beat after photographing hundreds of team ropings Sunday. The morning started a little awkward because they wanted me positioned 90 degrees to the chute, so I mostly got photos of the headers sprinting out of the gate and didn't catch a lot of them actually roping because I was standing between the contestants and usually had a horse head in the way. Fortunately, by the afternoon, I was able to make my way to the end of the arena in front of the chute and was able to capture a better angle.
