Shortgreenpigg's Music tutorial is outstanding. It has a few confusing bits, so I've added a flamepack and a FAQ to make things more clear. This is a flamepack detailing the steps of ShortGreenPigg's Music Notes Tutorial, as well as some FAQs.
Image above was made with the help of Lonesomefaery's Fur Elise params.
ShortGreenPigg's Music Notes Tutorial FAQ
How to I make a black and white gradient?
I know of two ways. First, edit the paramter file driectly. Here's the hacky way to make a gradient. I copied a parameter set into Notepad, the windows default text editor. You'll see a bunch of lines between the
Black in hexadecimal is 000000. White is FFFFFF. So I replaced half the colors with black and half the colors with white. You can see the result in the flame Step0 in the parameter pack.
The alternate way is to go to the gradient menu. You'll notice a button that says rotate. If you click on that button, it turns into a drop-down menu that allows you to make all sorts of adjustments to your current gradient. If you blur a gradient, increase the brightness, decrease the saturation, and set the contrast through the roof, you generally get a gradient that is black and white.
FAQ 2: I put 4 duplicate xforms where they should be .25, .5, .75 and 1 yet I only have ONE line. WHY???
You moved the transforms, not the post transforms. In your transform editor, there is a button at the top that says Px with a little blue triangle. You need to make sure that is pressed down in order to move post-transforms. Of course, that button has a bug. Sometimes it will show as being pressed down, when it really isn't, so press it on and off a couple of times until it starts working.
Fardarismai has this advice: There is a PX button in the triangle tab. I have found that if you use the PX button on the triangle tab, it works much more consistently than the one at the top of the editor.

Also, that image is why I decided against making Fur Elise a "raw fractal"..... because using a linear xform to duplicate the line makes that terrible, terrible circle in the middle.

Thank you for putting this together! I've looked at SGP's tutorial several times now I will play with it.
My work around for the Px button is to bring up the transform tab where you can see "for sure" that it has changed.
