Concepts of the Heavy Assault Special Operations (HASO) trooper floated around in the army's design bureaus, doomed to be stuck in perpetual experimental limbo until the study of Davian plasma muskets that led to the development of advanced power cells which in turn allowed the miniaturisation of DEWs and made infantry exoskeletons more reliable in battlefield conditions, making them viable for heavy frontline combat.

The HASO trooper is a heavy infantry unit specialised in suppressing enemy infantry advances and tearing them to shreds with rapid machinegun firepower and lasers. Serving mainly in elite mechanised infantry companies, HASO units are often deployed to break through the enemy's flanks and cause havoc to their own frontlines. They are primarily armed with the new S200 'Neo-Ultimax II' 'rail-machinegun', a LMG that uses electromagnetic rails to propel caseless 5.56mm tungsten-carbide rounds at hypervelocities, enabling them to provide a large volume of extremely lethal armor-piercing firepower. A backpack-mounted laser rifle gives even more extra firepower, helping the soldier to engage targets in his line-of-sight while he simultaneously deals with the others. With most of the weight in the laser's power cells, the backpack is rightfully very heavy but with the exoskeleton providing support a HASO trooper remain very much as mobile as any other infantry unit. When behind cover, the laser rifle can extend outwards over a wall and take out enemy snipers, machinegunners and riflemen pinning the user down, eliminating the threat quickly and maintain the momentum of an advance. The HASO's body armor is the same as the rifleman, a SIBAS-3 with Ionoactive energy shielding plates that provide added protection against bullets and DEWs.
