---------------------
The General Infantry makes up the backbone of the ground-based armed forces, forming the mainline infantry component of the IRS war machine. Drawing men and women from all over the Republic, these soldiers are characteristically tough and resilient in the battlefield, capable of adapting to the harshest combat environments and well determined to fight the enemy until the end. Though not equipped with as much advanced equipment as the infantry of other factions, their gear is designed to be more rugged and practical to withstand the rigours of the battlefield better.

The General Infantry soldiers usually train for 2 to 3 years for the full course, but in times of national emergencies they can be quickly recruited and trained in a few months to as short as mere weeks to get the basic skills of handling a firearm, gear maintenance and maneuvers right. The ranks of the General Infantry are supplemented by National Service conscripts who have decided to sign on after their two-year mandatory military service, volunteers and enlistees and those drafted directly from the population in times of urgency.

What the IRS soldiers lack in technology and advanced equipment, they make up for it for their ruthlessness and patriotism. Singaporean soldiers from a society that values honour, sacrifice and duty for the greater cause of the nation no doubt form one of the galaxy's most brave and tenacious fighting men. When in large numbers or when they are driven to desperation, these stock of soldiers will fight to the end, raising the Singapore flag in the heat of battle, shouting battle cries and take part in brutal melee combat with their swords and bayonets. The General Infantry forms a versatile fighting force more than able in taking on all sorts of enemies, well trained to use most of the IRS's weaponry ranging from rifles to launchers.

Equipment
-----------------------------------

M8 Tactical Helmet: Constructed out of Bryoceramic and internally padded with Kelvar, the M8 provides basic protection for the wearer's head from shrapnel, debris and small caliber rounds. They also house state of the art communications, display and sensory systems. Soldier can maintain constant contact with each other and their superiors in the battlefield easily as well as access to the military battlefield database without much issue. The HUD shows the status of the soldier and a targeting reticule to improve accuracy, as well as other visual and audio data downloaded from the Integrated Intelligence Network (IIN). The multi-spectrum camera mounted on the top of the helmet provides various modes of interpreting the environment, be it infrared, thermovision or night vision. The M8 also mounts a motion tracker and a radar to help the wearer keep track of his surroundings, and in built audio filters to maintain communications efficiency between soldiers in a loud and noisy combat zone.

Integrated Body Armour System (IBAS): A combination of a Bryoceramic Hardplate piece electrocoated with an Aegis Energy Repellent layer mounted on a lightweight bulletproof vest to give the soldier protection from shrapnel, small arms fire as well as energy blasts. It is an effective piece of protection yet it is cheap and easily mass produced in large quantities. The vest also mounts 4 HEG-78 grenades.

Shoulder Plates: Protects the shoulders from injury. Has a thin layer of Bryoceramic mounted on a soft Kelvar padding.

No.3 Multi-Camo BDU: The new standard battle uniform for all soldiers in the Military is the no.3 Multi-Camo Uniform. It can change colour schemes thanks to a special in-built electronic-controlled chemical reactant weaved in the fabric, allowing the wearer to blend in almost any environments with a mere switch. Urban, desert, snow, jungle, grasslands and plain camo patterns can be selected and additional patterns can be programmed in the design matrix of the selection mechanism. The wearer can also move around and fight in this uniform easily and the thermal conductor fibres enables the soldier to feel comfortable in the cold or in the scorching deserts. The fabric is also tough and durable, reducing the need for replacements.

Portable Computer: A small lightweight arm-mounted computer used for accessing electronic systems, hacking enemy computers and as contingency measure to access the database if the M8 helmet's systems fail to do so. It has a decent battery life and can be recharged in the presence of light.

Armored Knee Caps: Made out of the same Bryoceramic and Kelvar paddings, the knee caps protect the soldier's knees from debris, shrapnel and small caliber rounds.

Combat Boots: These boots are made of extra-durable waterproof materials, keeping the soldier's feet dry and comfortable and the cleaning made part easy. The sole's design allows the soldier to traverse harsh terrain with not much difficulty and provides traction for slippery and wet environments.

S35A2 Assault Rifle: An updated model of the S35A assault rifle coming with a large removable carrying handle for easy carrying and imposing look. It feeds 5.56x45mm MER-V49 micro-explosive bullets from a 40-round magazine and has decent man-stopping power. Accurate, manageable in weight and all-terrain, the S35A2 presents itself as a cheap, primitive but a practical and reliable weapon in the hands of Singaporean soldiers. Rails allow customization of the rifle, adding on grenade launchers, underslung shotguns, flashlights, laser pointers and all kinds of sights to add on its versatile mission capability.

T56 Load Bearing Belt: Mounts a sidearm holster and a machete sheath as a standard along with ammo pouches, a holster for a water canteen and backpouches for extra miscellaneous equipment.

Backpack: Stores essential equipment and rations for long missions where resupplying is a scarce opportunity.
