Background: Light tanks were already completely obsolete by the time the Interstellar Republic of Singapore was founded. However, during the initial phases of their expansion into space, they realised that the early establishing colonies needed an armored vehicle that is lightweight enough to be shipped to them, and simple enough to maintain with local materials and expertise at hand. The tanks in their regular military inventory were simply too heavy and fitted with complicated technology that cannot be repaired or rebuilt there as well as its cost of production, requiring expensive amount of materials and parts for its construction. Hence the Military Department of Weapons Design got to work and designed a light tank for the colonial militia, creating the Type 30 Warmaster. It was the ideal light tank with speed, decent firepower, cheap cost and could be constructed by developing settlements with only basic factory manufacturing equipment. The Warmaster was not created with frontline service in mind; it was devised to provide some kind of armored support for colonial militia forces until the settlements grows large enough to posess an adequate industrial capability to start producing its own regular service armament, including tanks, from which the Warmasters would be scrapped and recycled for parts and materials. However, turns out, the colonial militia likes the Warmasters and refurbished them to become combat revelant; rebuilt with a Tryomite hull and refitted with advanced technology such as a smart battlefield computer and multi-spectra cameras as well as better weapons. Still relatively cheap to produce and simple to maintain, the upgraded Type 30AM Warmaster tanks found their new lives in the service of mixed mechanized elements, the local urban militia forces and even the police which favours them for their small size and excellent manuverability in narrow streets and tight spaces. As a light tank, it can't stand on its own against enemy MBTs, but given numbers and some strategy and tactics, the Warmasters can be used to harass enemy armor formations and break them up for the bigger tanks to kill.
Tactics and Roles: Too light to effectively engage more heavily armored vehicles on its own, the Warmaster is more delegated to a support role to assist IRS units which may not have access to proper armored support due to unfortunate circumstances or difficulty of procurement. It is also frequently attached to mechanized elements consisting of APCs, IFVs and other light vehicles to provide armored firepower against enemy forces with its semi-automatic tank cannon. The Type 30AM is not used frequently by interstellar forces operating in foreign territories, who prefer to field the equally manuverable yet much more powerful and more armored Archer I and then Archer II main battle tanks in enemy territory, but is occasionally found in the inventory of paratrooping and orbital drop elements who favour it for its small size, low profile, speed and decent combat capability for use on the ground as a recon-slash-fast tank suitable for hit and run combat. Cheap and expendable, the Warmaster can also be deployed in large numbers to overwhelm the enemy where it would make use of its autocannon to conduct an unrelenting barrage of shells on enemy positions and fortifications and then charge forward to secure the area and clean up the survivors. It can also be converted into an unmanned tank drone, furthering its expendable nature and allowing commanders to field them in great numbers without worrying about the cost of lives (though fitting high powered broadcast arrays on every tank necessary for remote controlled automation can be quite expensive). When not in the IRS's combat use, surplus Warmasters are offered as exports to friendly factions and military aid to affliated factions in hostile nations.
Armament: The Warmaster has pretty decent firepower for a light tank, mainly armed with a semi-automatic 90mm cannon feeding its rounds from an ammunition blet that is linked to the ammunition tray. What it lacks the firing power of a railgun is compensated by its much faster firing rate, low power cosnumption and less heat build up in the barrel. The Warmaster can unleash an automatic barrage of 90mm Armor Piercing High Explosive (APHE) shells on a main battle tank and incapacitate it, heavily damaging its armor and weapon systems. This ability is further supported by its recoil-canceller mechanism which effectively dampens recoil to almost zero allowing for perfect accuracy and a firing computer that assists in aiming and calculating and providing vital firing solutions to hit an enemy target. It can also fire on the move with an auto-stabilization feature in the turret that keeps the barrel on the target. A co-axial 7.62mm MG and a 12.7mm HMG turret provides anti-infantry support against enemy soldiers who get too clsoe for comfort. An ATGM launcher is usually mounted in place of the HMG turret to enable the Warmaster to act as an anti-tank hunter.
Power Plant and Engine: Power is provided by an Ethervoltaic Generator which houses photo-voltaic bacteria known as Etherium to convert light or excess biomass into usable electricity. Ethervoltaics are cost-effective, safe to operate and relatively simple to repair and maintain by engineers with very little moving parts. Its Electric Drive engine converts electricity into kinetic motion and drives the tank's propulsion systems at relatively good speeds. Also easy to maintain for its simple operation and construction.
Armor and Defensive Subsytems: The Type 30AM has relatively light tank armor, with only a Class B Tryomite Armor Composite that protects it from small arms fire and heavy machine gun fire. It fares little against dedicated anti-armor weapons such as shaped AT explosives and tank shells as well as high powered laser and plasma blasts, only able to take a few hits before being destroyed completely. Armor packages in the form of additional Armor Composite blocks, Kinetic-Wave Barrier Generators and active Energy Shield Generators can drastically improve its chances of survival and protect the tank from railgun and energy fire. Smoke canisters are mounted on each side of the turret and can be launched to deploy a thick, dark grey cloud of opaque smoke that removes the tank from sight. The Infrared-Radio disruptor particles in the smoke cloud scramble radio and infrared targetting systems of anti-tank weapons, making them unable to get a lock-on on the Warmaster, giving it precious time to retreat back.
Mobility and Terrain Handling: The Warmaster can drive on almost any land terrain thanks to its Individual Wheel Suspension System that allows it to drive over rough uneven terrain such as rocks and rubble without much difficulty and has ground pressure controllers which enables it to maneuver across mud, sand and loose soil without sinking or being trapped. It is also very fast as a light tank and can travel across large distances quickly as well as changing its direction on the fly immediately, making it an agile vehicle capable of switching an attack direction to evade fire and strike an enemy at an unsuspecting vector. Due to its small size and light weight, it can comfortably operate in tight urban zones and move between buildings and narrow streets as well as use local infrastructure without worrying if it can withstand its weight. This also enables it to be fitted inside normal-sized dropships and carried right into the heart of the battlezone to where it is needed, or dropped straight into the battlefield via parachute or orbital drop pods.
Sensors and Communication Systems: The Warmaster is fitted with a versatile HOLMES Mk2 Pulsar device which can perform motion tracking, GPS positioning, radar and scanning functions and is paired up with a Multi-Spectra Camera which can provide 360 degree visuals in multiple spectrums, from normal visible light to infrared, thermal and night vision. It is also connected to the Integrated Intelligence Network and continuously receives and broadcasts battlefield information in this secure military network, allowing them to coordinate military actions more effectively and keep track of everything from enemy and allied positions to terrain and landmarks. The Vehicle Commanding Officer in charge of the entire tank and its crew can see everything in the battlefield in a virtual projection on his holographic interface, allowing him to see things from a larger view and strategize accordingly. It also has a central computer that is capable of gathering combat data from both the IIN and the tank's own sensory equipment and use it to calculate everything from battlefield analysis to firing solutions which is then utilized to adjust the 90mm cannon or feed target coordinates into the ATGM launcher.

I've seen light tanks that reach 82MPH, but its fine like this, it is trying to be more defensive role as a tank

Yep the warmasters are originally interim tanks that early colonies would use until they get the Archer IIs but many colonies decided to refurbish them instead of scrapping them to serve in the militia forces. The warmaster has very little use in deployments off world.
