Description
The Mobile Expeditionary Projection Forces (MEPF), also more widely known as the 'Marines' for their association with the spaceborne Navy, is the Republic's intergalactic rapid response force that it can quickly deploy to eliminate threats on any of its worlds, or beyond the borders to scout and conduct preemptive strikes on enemy installations or provide escort to long-range civilian expeditions. The MEPF also frequently engages in counter-insurgency and counter-terrorist operations, providing security on important orbital infrastructure and collaborating with local militia troops to wipe out terrorist cells and hideouts.

The Zero-G Environment, Air and Land (ZEAL) is the elite component of the MEPF, consisting of distinguished Marine veterans as well as younger but nonetheless oustanding candidates from its own pool of recruits. ZEAL is widely known for its battlefield insertions from low orbit, slamming down into unknown territory via drop pods and causing havoc deep behind enemy lines. Like the MEPF Marine, ZEAL troopers are primarily equipped to fight in space with vaccuum-sealed suits, thruster packs and SR22 rail-bullpup rifles along with magnetic breaching charges and plasma cutters for boarding actions. In keeping with the Third Generation programme, ZEALs are equipped with the latest SIBAS-3 body armor system, the energy shield plates a well-welcomed addition to enhance survival against enemy DEWs that they so frequently encounter.
