Image number 9 form 15 I did for Anime North 2008.

I wanted to draw a more grown up Naruto, and still have the demon fox included… so it wasn’t hard coming up with a piece that could merge the two. I also wanted to have a sense of huge proportion with the image- so the trailing enormous fox body in the BG trailing of to a single silhouetted head in moon, coupled with the close up tail tips was a fun way to achieve that.
I also designed the multiple foxtails to resemble what would look like ”fire”… sort of using the concept of “Trail by fire”. Naruto’s trial is of course how he handles himself and the demon within him- so it’s both metaphorical as well as a physical representation to his character development.

Also, another image using a paper that I already had as opposed to illustration board.
I have to say, for all the fuss people make about having “grade ‘A’ quality mediums”, it makes me think how much skill they lack if they need to have the top-notch products for every simple project they have. Sure, you need the proper equipment for the job to get done- but I paint with Dollar store/student quality brushes and on cardboard and it comes out fine. I don’t need the Sable brushes and 27$ illustration board.
