Description [link]
It turns out after accomplishing ground breaking feats in realism and detail the traditional and computer animation field,
Disney is taking a step back, way back, to the graphic ghost of videogames past.
And I Couldnt Be More Excited!

Not for the MegaMind esq bad-guy-goes-good-trend plot
But because (although this isnt confirmed) Disney's gonna do a movie (atleast partially) in 8-bit!
I already jizzed my pants when i found out Wall E was gonna be a pantomime movie with barely any dialouge, but now they're gonna do a movie with bad graphics.
let's see them get away with it

and as for Ralph here, sorry if there's any mistakes in the spriting, i didnt have any really good refference, so...

Wreck-It Ralph (c) Disney

I just went to see this movie(amazing by the way) and I realized possible the perfect song for it.
Be Somebody-Thousand Foot Krutch
Specifically, these lyrics:
And when they say they don't believe, I hope that they see you and me.

"When Can I See You Again?" doesn't really do anything to explain the plot, conflict or the message of the movie, it only really describes how Ralph and Venelope feel in the ending, and that's about it. It does that very, well but still.
And there's also a fan written song that would've been a nice "I Want" for Ralph if this had been a musical (i'm glad it isn't) [link]

I know it doesn't describe the exact plot, it it just seems to fit the movie.

You know, if you think about it, the plot is much more then a Megamind esq bad-guy-goes-good plot. Mostly because the "bad-guy" was never bad. The whole thing is inspired by the original Donkey Kong (Mario was the actual villain), and if you've seen the AWESOME 8-bit teaser that they showed at... some place/thingy, Wreck-It Ralph was wrongfully harmed and only "became a bad-guy" for the sake of the game. He isn't villainous at all, he's simply just been put in a position where everyone has to hate him. I find THAT really interesting. That, and the fact that the movie is like Roger Rabbit, meaning cameo's from ACTUAL VIDEO GAME CHARACTERS! Search it up, test footage has shown Bowser, Zangief, Dr. Wiley and Dr. Robotnick in the movie! Unless you already know this. Sorry for the pointlessness if you do. XD

Well Megamind wasnt such a generic movie in it's own right. The cercumstances leading to his villanry have the audience on his side from the begining. Since everyone loves a badboy and animated hollywood's realizing it, he bad-guy-goes-good movie is something that's soon going to catch on and become a common thing in movies.
So far there's Dispicable Me, Megamind and most recently the Lorax,
There is sort of a formula for this kind of movie: the bad guy is bad for reasonable reasons, the good guy is an unlikable jerk offstage, and there's a second much worse villain just to fill the hole the bad guy left. The good guy's absent in Dispicable Me. For this movie the tropes seem to be filled by Ralph and Felix, but mark my words, they havent revealed it yet, but there's going to be a game villain that actually Is the badguy of the movie. just wait in see.
I'd be pleasantly surprised if it turns out there's No Real villain in the story and they can think of a way to solve the movie without one. That'd be a breath of fresh air.

Mario wasnt the villain of Donkey Kong, he was the villain of Donkey Kong Jr. and Donkey Kong Circus.
And Shigeru Miyamoto said he decieded that DonkeyKong would be an animal because an animal cant be held responsable for it's actions, and i guess that lives true for Ralph.

Ive looked up the concept art, and i could only find once of the VideoGameVillainsSupportGroup, and the fact that these guys dont have a role in the plot drives thier cameos less plausable to survive beyond concept art.

Or maybe im just being Too sceptical
Epic Mickey ended up being made afterall.

Well, I'm saying the whole cameo thing because it was actually confirmed that there would be several cameos by the film creators. Sorta like who framed Roger Rabbit with video game characters.

It's not concept art, because if you look at that a LITTTLE more your notice that it's in a recording studio. :3

From what I've researched, the bad guy in this movie isn't really a bad guy. It's almost a parody of the trope of bad-guy good-guy. Fix-It Felix wants to keep the status quo. Like you, it'd be really interesting if he wasn't a villain at all, just a logical character who understands what Wreck-It Ralph is going through, but having too much change in his life would be... too much, I guess.

I didn't like Megamind. He didn't learn anything, really. You could say that he did, but he didn't. He's still the same person. He still has an ego. They didn't give him a scene where he really opened up to the audience or anything, just little tidbits. That, and the whole movie was just a collection of missed opportunities. Why not actually have the hero be dead? That would have made a MUCH more interesting movie. I remember in the original concept, Metro Man actually died. Imagine a movie where Megamind discovered through his OWN actions that he was only given the villain role because it was simply put upon him. I dunno. I just didn't care for it.

About the whole mario thing, you're right, I had that wrong. I still kinda consider him a villain though, being that the games follow a continuity. I think. xD Again, I don't know.

I personally believe the whole thing is just a parody of donkey kong, except it makes Donkey Kong sympathetic. Again, what makes this cool for me is that, unlike Megamind or Despicable Me, Wreck-it Ralph is NEVER the bad guy. Those two other movies gave personal motivations for the characters, this one has no personal motivation. He's just the villain in a video game, and the only reason he IS is because they destroyed his home and forced him to live in a Garbage lot, living day and day out doing what he's programmed to do. I find that pretty interesting. :3 I think the only real comparison towards Megamind is that he, again, feels like this is his place. That's it for me, really. I do agree with you on the whole people liking the bad-guys thing though, but I don't really think in this case our main character is a bad guy. :3

Oh, right! If you go onto several sources, there were other cameo's revealed. A Big Daddy, A snake from some game, Kato from Mortal Combat, a Zombie, A Ghost from Pacman... that's it. :3

Do you have sources other than Wikipedia? If you can you mind sharing them?

I confess MegaMind wasnt my favorite movie, but it was good in its own right. The central theme is "The oppertunity to do what's right, and whacha gonna do with it when its handed to you: MetroMan had it, and then got bored of it, Titan takes it and decides to ignore it for personal gain, and to defeat MegaMind was usually to do whats right, but when it was His turn he actually did it, and thats what made him a hero."

Dispicable Me...was for allot of itself, pointless. Or if you know the point, please tell me.

Hey do you think the story would still work if it was just Donkey Kong (come to think of it, Donkey Kong Became a good guy...)

Oh, of course. What do you want me to cite?

Totally agree with you on Megamind. I think I make myself sound like I dislike it a LITTLE less then I actually do. (I just found it disappointing in a lot of places, but I still enjoy it.)

I do know the point of Despicable Me. Unlike Megamind, he wasn't put in this position where he had to become a villain. He was corrupted from an awful childhood, so he's basically a typical villain. His motivation for stealing the moon is a personal one, because his mother never appreciated him for actually trying to go for his dreams. He's changed through the girls because he actually learns how to accept change, and basically grow up. If you think about it, he was an incredibly childish character. He was fighting for an impossible dream, something that only a child would really care about. He had tantrums, expected more out of people then he would get. The girls give him a new sense of responsibility, something that he can finally consider worth fighting for, something that's more then just a dream. The scene when he finally reaches the moon has a lot more reasoning the just... he got to the moon. He accomplished something personal, and finally found that it really had no meaning. So... that's the point, to me at least. I actually really enjoy that movie, because I find it a pretty good throwback to classic, cartoony cartoons with slapstick violence and stuff. That, and I do like his whole transformation into a different character. He's sympathetic because his life has been a living hell, and we like him because you can understand why he's lashing out. :3

Honestly, I don't think it would work. Mostly because Donkey Kong is already an established character, it would feel a little weird to have someone you've already grown to love suddenly be someone different. BUT, they'd better have a DK and Mario Cameo. I'll walk out of the theatre if they don't. XD

I like where this film is heading: and that Ralph is a mix between Donkey Kong and classic old school arcade villains.
The concept may be cliche (villain wanting to be good) but the film itself is promising beyond measure.
I'd be more disappointed if it turned out not as good as I had hoped more so than if Dark Knight rises doesn't live up to its expectations. GO RALPH!!

Concepts are maybe "cliched" but you can't say it's "Megamind in 8-bit"... That sounds like saying movie will be a copy of that, and each creation, no matter the same concepts, are original by their own way...

TaRtOoN-Man94 In reply to MRottDawgBarks [2012-03-06 01:14:16 +0000 UTC]

No no no i wasnt Accusing Wreck it Ralph of stealing as much as merely following a trend that I Know many movies are going to. It's not thier fault, it's just the movie audience's tastes are shifting in that direction

By all means Wreck It Ralph is original in it's own right, but that doesnt mean it doesnt have it's tropes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

MRottDawgBarks In reply to TaRtOoN-Man94 [2012-03-06 01:33:59 +0000 UTC]

Exactly... but direct comparision with other stuff is something I found really unproper thing to do =_= Just say, it will be a movie about the "villian who wants to be hero" cliche, but's not Megamind... in fact, I'm sure many other stuff share that trope.

It's ok, don't take it personal or wrong from me...

well yes, but I doubt that's an accident either.
And even despite the simularities in the character designs between Donkey Kong and Wreck-It-Ralph and Mario and Fix-It-Felix, the game scenerio itself is original enough to count.

lol true
Little know fact, when Shigeru Miyamoto first came up with the idea of Donkey Kong back in 1981, he originally intended to make a Popeye game. but when Nintendo failed to get the liscence to use Popeye Bluto and Olive, Miyamoto decided to just replace them with newly invented characters of his own: Mario Donkey Kong and Pauline.
