Hero made his way back to his owner, mangled pheasant in mouth, and tentatively offered it to the man. The farmer had spent enough time with the dog to have no expectation for him to be of any use, so the fact that he even returned with the stolen bird was commendable in the man's eyes. "Good boy." he said in a gruff voice while patting hero on the head. I am a good boy... the mutt assured himself as the beagle's words had scared his confidence in his good nature.

PATAGONIA
She wasn't sure what had woken her, nor was she sure of why she had awaken. It was still dark outside, but she could smell the fresh dew that sprinkled the yard. There was a cool breeze blowing in from an open window screen, but aside from that, the house was silent. Above Patagonia's head, red symbols slowly changed their form. 6:03am ... 6:04am... 6:05am...
  She had no idea what the symbols meant, but with each new picture came a sense of time passing. Ah, time...
  Time was something Patagonia rarely thought about. After all, she was still young; almost two years old. Why should time matter to her?
  It shouldn't. But for some reason, it had managed to crawl into the beagle's

I tried to keep the dead bird as pg as possible, but practically all it's bones are disjointed and it's missing a leg so it could've been a lot worse...
