Hero was not taking this stray business lightly. With Patagonia off to tend to the Pets' little leader, the husky mutt stayed fiercely vigilant. He was a strong male, and an accomplished hunter- he was more than ready to fight. Endurance was the name of the game. If the Strays queued up and let him take them out one at a time it'd be fine, but he wouldn't expect a fair fight from a hoard of homeless mongrels set on destroying the domestics. He could only hope they wouldn't come for the pups- that they didn't even know of their existence. Still, he remand prudent. This chary side of the usually happy-go-lucky Hero struck the children with a fear they didn't understand. The presence of his nervousness seeped itself into each one of them and they, too, kept on the watch for those vile drifters.
