Personality:
Charming
With his quick wit and friendly nature, Rich is quite a charming old bloke. He's very delightful to be around, though some may find him boring or even irritating given his constantly pleasant nature. He tries his best to please everyone and prides himself as a gentleman.

Amiable
This dog is very easy to get along with. He always tried his best to keep the peace, and seldom gets angry unless someone has made an active attempt to harm his family. Even around people he doesn't quite care for, Rich will try his best to keep things as friendly as possible.

Intelligent
Chief is about as smart as he sounds and I don't mean that in a bad way. There are times when he may seem a bit daft, but only because he made no attempt to seem smart. Living life has caused him to be quite educated in many fields, but he's not one to show off.

Self-destructive
It's not uncommon for Chief to go too far for other people. He tends to push himself past his limits to please others and refuses to let it show so no one will grow concerned over him. His life's purpose is to make others happy-- unfortunately at the  expense of his own well-being.

Pre-Group History:
Rich did a lot of house hopping in his earlier years, and with those homes came many different names. Buck, Young George, Governor, Chief, just to name a few. Be it lack of funds, natural disaster, or simply just unwillingness to car for such a large dog, he went through home after home after home. He started off in an apartment in the city, and some how found himself living out in the country side of England. Rich tired his best to enjoy each home he landed in, but the boy found his true calling in shepherding. He lived for his flock, and did everything he could to keep them safe and happy. Unfortunately, the majority of his herd was lost to a terrible summer storm that left him homeless and fearful of lightning. The storm came quickly. He and his owner rushed for the flock, the warm water muddying the ground under their feet as they raced to retrieve their livestock. As the wind began to pick up and thunder and lightning filled the air, the herd grew terrified and discombobulated, and most all of them ran off in small clusters in different directions if only to save themselves. Rich and his owner tried their best to herd what they could back to the house, nothing could have stopped the situation too disgustingly perfect that unfolded. With the wind knocking the trees back and the clouds bursting with electricity, a stroke of lightning snapped a tree as the two shepherds neared the barn house. The sound ripped through Richard's ears and the sight is forever stained in the back of his eyes as he watch the tree barrel down onto his owner several feet in front of him. Rich was frozen with shock for a moment, but quickly raced for his master, trying his best to pull him out from under the trunk, but it was soon made clear that the blow killed him. Rich gave up hope soon after that and sat with his master until morning came. A relief team found the haggard dog, beaten by wind and rain, and took him and what small amount was left of the herd to be displaced elsewhere. An elderly farmer took in the dog and the small herd, and everything seemed fine for about two years. But the farmer's health was degrading. Rich helped him in every way he could think of, and never let the man out of his sight. With his physical and mental health growing worse, the man decided to sell his farm to move to the small town of Canidale with his dog. When he first got the dog he had named him Chief, but as Alzheimer's began to slowly rot his brain, he forgot his name and began calling the dog Richard due to the fact that he was so congenial and quick to help him like his youngest son, Richard. Said son soon came to live with the two to help take care of his father in his old age, bringing his own rescued dog with him. Rich quickly grew to love his new flatmates, but his main priority in life was his owner, and he still does everything he can to keep him as comfortable as he can until the inevitable day he passes.

There times when Richard's owner will call him Chief, and Rich couldn't be happier about it because it means he remembers, but his son never calls him Richard because that's his name and he thinks it's weird but also kind of flattering that his dad calls his dog by his name.
