Description
A semi original weapon I made for my imperial world. The Krasnikov-Umbra M74 Bolt Rifle belongs to the Astra Militarum regiments of Kray Mira and it's Planetary Defense Force.
It is a powerful ballistic anti-personnel weapon designed for Grenadiers and high-level PDF units, to serve as a mid-range automatic weapon for high-risk operations, which must combine high damage output with accuracy and versatility.
This pattern of Bolter is considered by some to be heretical in the eyes of the Machine God since it is a "miniaturized" copy of the venerable Umbra Pattern Bolter designed for the Battle Brothers of the Adeptus Astartes.
This weapon has a thicker barrel than the more well-known Godwyn-De'az Boltgun, is more resistant to damage when handled roughly and is also slower to overheat during sustained fire, and has improved rifling with six grooves for increased accuracy, this modification also enhances its reliability in adverse environmental conditions. This pattern of Bolter is intended to be used by normal humans and is sized accordingly, and comes in two variants: the standard "short" Boltgun configuration, and a "long" Bolt Rifle variant with an elongated barrel and a rifle-like buttstock. In order to reduce its operating costs, this pattern normally employs a modified rocket-propelled distress flares fitted with crude impact detonators in a pale imitation of a true Bolt shell, but are nevertheless still quite deadly, igniting flammable materials and can set a victim on fire in addition to the normal explosive damage it dishes out. When dealing with heavily-armoured infantry it can fire more powerful armour-piercing rounds that uses a heavier main charge with its uranium core replaced by a solid wolframium core; upon impact, the outer casing peels away and the high-velocity wolframium needle accelerates into the victim, where the larger detonator propels shards of super-hardened metal further into the wound.
Though Kray Mira did not originally meddle with such holy technologies, the formation of the Cicatrix Maledictum forced the planet to improve and expand its defensive capabilities in order to survive. Due to their loyalty and numerous contributions to the Indomitus Crusade, all of Kray Mira's subtle tech heresies were overlooked/allowed to continue by the Adeptus Mechanicus.
As with my previous post, it's kinda inspired on the Soviet Union and modern day Russia. Hope you like it!
